Default Anyone know anything about Ross Verba?

Browns | Verba Could be Traded/Released - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 3 Jun 2005 19:11:44 -0700

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Cleveland Browns may opt to release or trade OT Ross Verba following the acquisition of OT L.J. Shelton. Verba, who is looking for a new contract, has refused to take part in on-field workouts the last two weeks.

Looks like he played for Green Bay so I am sure Rivera knows him.

Tough hard worker who backs down from no one. He has had some injury problems. Plays very hard with a nasty streak. Good player!

Verba is indeed looking for mucho dinero. He is okay, but not worth nearly the money he is asking for IMO.

The Browns just got Shelton to replace him. That alone should tell you they are not really impressed with him. Remember, Coach Parcells is tight with Crennel and Carthon and is sure to get the inside scoop.

Do you know if he plays RT? What do you think everyone should we rely on what we have or sign a sure thing?

he's a RT... all about the money... if he sticks to his contract demands, he'll find a thin market...

He's an oft injured player who had one good year in Cleveland, with no pro bowl appearances and now wants to be paid like a top five tackle when his production clearly doesn't match up with the top players at his position. The Browns aren't stupid enough to give him this money and I believe he will be available. Verba rubbed me the wrong way when Browns fans were booing the teams putrid performance last year and when Verba was asked about it by the media his response was, "They should just be glad they have a team."

Ross Verba=Loser.

I think he played some RT and guard for the Brownies too. But yeah, his "natural" position is LT.

He's no good for us. His arrow is pointing down and he's a bit injury prone. No thanks.

Slightly off topic... But anyone remember the bit on The Ticket with Ruby Pultz and his mock draft where he drafted Verba like 3 times in the top 5...guess you had to be there, it was funny...

Meanwhile back at the ranch... I don't think we need him.

Browns | Verba Wants Out - from www.KFFL.com
Sat, 4 Jun 2005 05:27:40 -0700

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Plain Dealer, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/13/nfl">Cleveland Browns OT Ross Verba responded to the team's signing of OT L.J. Shelton by asking the Browns to cut him. "That's great," said Verba when informed Friday, June 3 about Shelton. "Now they have a left tackle and hopefully they'll cut me. Please cut me now!" Verba has been threatening to sit out the season without a new contract. Browns general manager Phil Savage has already said that he has no plans to redo Verba's deal. "They obviously don't want to pay me what I'm worth, so why don't they just freaking cut me?" Verba said by phone. "They don't even return my agents' phone calls. To be disrespected like that is total B.S." Verba said he'll be happy to stay in Cleveland if the Browns give him the money he deserves. "If not, I'm man enough to walk away with my head held high."

Yeah, just enough to know I don't want him.

We will be fine at RT without having to look for has beens or trouble-makers. I like the guys we have and am not at all worried about one of them stepping up to win the starting role.

Mark my words, Petitti will be a fixture at RT for us for many years to come. He may not win the starting job in TC but by season's end he will be there, permanently.
Captain Nathan Brittles: "Only the man who commands can be blamed. It rests on me... mission failure!"

"Jerry Jones is a billionaire fan who bought his own team for the express purpose of buying his way into the game. He wants to hang out with the players, stand in front of the cameras, be the face of the team (yech), make personnel moves as if this were a video game, and more than anything else, be seen as the guy who made it all happen."

He played left guard for 13 games in 2001, but every other start he had for Cleveland came at left tackle (two games in 2001, 16 games in 2002 and 16 games in 2004). For Green Bay, he started his first three years at left tackle, then started at left guard in 2000. He has never started a game at right tackle.
