Default Izell Reese - Had a herniated disc in 2000.

Reese's second season (1999) was cut short due to a herniated disc in his neck midway through the season. He underwent fusion of the C2-C3 vertebrae on Jan. 4, 2000. Reese was chosen by the Cowboys in the sixth round (188th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft, out of Alabama-Birmingham.

This must no longer be an issue? Doing some research this guy gets banged up a lot. But it is football.

I remember the neck problem and he was hurt a lot at Buffalo, too.

That's the main thing that keeps me from getting very excited about this signing. I doubt he'll be able to stay on the field .... he's obviously fragile and not getting any younger.

i also think he's an injury risk. didn't he have the same neck injury that ended moose's carreer? i remember him getting his vertebrae fused. not good when you have to stick your hat in there.

I think the best thing is that he knocks Scott off the roster but Davis still starts.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I'm probably the only guy on this board that likes Lynn Scott.

He certainly isn't the long-term answer, but he gets sold short everyday.

Nors, this thread title raises the BP...I thought he had a herniated disc NOW.

Do you have to be so freaking morbid?

There's two of us.
AS: Cowboys ice their own kicker in 19-13 OT loss

“That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president – I can do that and take the losses and come back for more,” Jones said.

God help us...............

That's a good point B.

I edited the title to reflect the true time-frame of the incident.

No, you're not alone. I still would put my money on Scott to start at FS unless the Beriault kid beats him out. Davis is a Special Teamer more than an every down Safety and Reese doesn't stand head and shoulders above anyone. He's played longer. I'd still be interested once Lance Schulters is free, but I doubt we sign him now.

I'm rooting for Beriault, but I know that's a hug elongshot given the odds of 4 rookie starters on 1 D. Ware, Burnett, and Spears are locks to start IMO.
