My roomate in college was from that Carter team. He was also a LB. Armstead called alot. I remember ND was ranked number one, they had Rocket and Armstead called the day of the game, he was pretty damn nervous. Miami won though.

That Carter team had it's state championship stripped over an ineligible player, my roomate still had his medal and said they'd never get it from him. He was a really good guy Armstead also seemed like a nice guy, voice was hard though. They knew about the robberies kept trying to tell those guys they were blowing it, Buck said the guys that did it all came from decent homes, had cars, no money problems etc. Said they did it because of the thrill he guessed.

I also remember Armstead got like "laundry money" and had several phone cards at his disposal compliments of the "U". This was when long distance was still pretty damn expensive and the "laundry Money" was pretty significant like 100 to 150 a week.

While he did have two 1st round RB's, they didn't always have big games, and when they didn't he threw the ball well enough to get victories(see, the Alabama game). Both backs were stopped cold and Campbell passed them to victory.

Two top 5 first round running backs.

When both backs were stopped cold... why did you think that happened? Because the defense was commiting all of it's resources to stop that beast of a running game. Don't you think that would make it quite easy for a QB to throw against?

If you know anything about football, the answer to that is yes.

That would make it easy for any QB to throw against. Apparently, a QB who was mediocre at best for his first 3 seasons could look okay in that situation.

If you think those two running backs didn't make it easy for Campbell to throw... you're delusional.

True enough. In fact there's no WR I'd rather have than Andre Johnson.

Gibbs said the pre-draft investigation into Tayor's character was "one of the most researched things in NFL history".

You gotta wonder exactly where that research was taking place.

Was it in the Book of Nostradamus?

There must have been a slight misinterpretation issue. The part that read "and in the third year of the two thousandth and first millenium will come he who shoots the gap", actually read "he who shoots the gat".

lol

Ya know, whenever a front office says they researched a particular player more than ever, that usually isn't a good sign.

I remember Jerry and Lacewell saying that about Quincy.

If you have to look that closely and investigate that thoroughly, then there must be a reason for it ... some hint of a problem.
