Default A tribute to Bill Parcells

I'd like to take this moment to tip my hat to (IMO) the greatest coach in the NFL today and shed some light on just how fortunate we as Cowboys fans are to have him as our own. At times, Bill Parcells can be stubborn to a fault and often very set in his ways. Necessary traits IMO to be successful coaching in such an unpredictable league yet I understand that some Dallas fans have been rubbed the wrong way as a result. But regardless of his hardheaded gametime decisions or hardnosed coaching strategies, BP has given us all one asset that should make you proud to be a Cowboys fan whether we win or lose on any given Sunday.

That asset?
Character.
This team has it and has it in bulk. The personnel that makes up our team has been hand-picked, disciplined and filtered down to the highest common denominator in terms of talent and character thus contributing to the overall team ideal that is necessary in such a cooperative sport.
Thank God we don't have a premadonna like T.O. holding out and taking low blows at his teammates. Thank God we don't have a thug like Sean Taylor acting the fool and forcing us to find a roleplayer to replace a starter. Thank God we don't have a Koen Robinson facing game suspensions and substance abuse policies. Thank God we don't have a selfish like Randy Moss staining our franchise and causing contraversy within the locker room. Thank God we don't have a rookie like Shawne Merriman who thinks he's already proven enough in the game, before even playing professionally, to make demands on his organization. Come to think of it... thank God we don't have any players from "The U", also.

Thankfully, what we do have is a team of high character, team minded, talented and eager individuals with a higher level of intelligence than the average athlete. Thank God. I love this team and it's coach. And I feel fortunate to have such a shrewd business mind/football fan for an owner, as well. He genuinely wants his team to be successful and will do what it takes to win even if it means forfeiting his power to some degree to the coach in order to give the coach the leverage needed to be successful. And let's not forget our lovely cap situation.

This team is exploding with talent. It is a lovely marriage of seasoned vets, promising youth and overall successful ability. But most of all, it is a unit of solid, classy athletes working toward a common goal. The players on our team are actually guys I wouldn't mind meeting and exchanging a few words with. Thats says alot in a day where the Barry Bonds and Ron Artests of the sporting world are the real "headliners" and "heros". Not in my world. I have a tremendous amount of respect for athletes that respect the game and work relentlessly towards the benefit of their team rather than themselves. I believe BP has assembled a unit that encompasses this ideal more so than any other team in any professional sport, today. For that, I tip my hat to the man and am more proud than ever to proclaim, "I am a fan of the Dallas Cowboys."
Thank you Bill Parcells. Go Cowboys!

When you see what has happened with the 49ers, it makes you extra thankful. Just think, we came this close to having Terry Donahue as our coach. As much as we suffered through Gailey's ineptness, Donahue would've been worse.

Scrolling down and reading the post was no problem...
But it loses a lot of credibility when you see the picture below.

Personally, I think it adds to the credibility.

Great post, Rich!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parcells' way may be grating at times, but it will pay off, and kudos to Jerry Jones for
the approach he has taken with Bill, and his willingness to work hand in hand with him, apparently ego free.

On the Theisman pic - could you dress him in something less trendy than a striped chiffon asymmetrical hemmed dress and pastel leather back wedge sandals? Like maybe a potato SACK?

I have a new outfit very similar and hate how Joe looks better in it than me.

Qwickdraw, very well put.You certainly echo my
sentiments. We only have to look at the years before
Bill arrived, to see the shambles a team can be in with
an inept,no leadership skills, and lack of discipline coach
can be like.Bill, nor anyone, can be liked by all,but i'm sure
glad we have a real coach.

Default Parcells

Rich... Very good read. BP can be as frustrating as all get out but it is those same qualities that make him successful. We are extremely fortunate to have him as our coach.

I don't like your sig picture either.

Hes not the greatest coach in Cowboys history. Hes got a ways to go before hes better then Jimmy and I am not sure its possible to top Tom Landry at all. I'll give you hes already better then Campo and gailey and anyone that considers Switzer a great coach is mental.

Parcells is a good coach. maybe a HOF coach, but hes not even close to tops in Dallas.
Step aside for the Cowboys from Hell!!!!!

Very good post, Quickdraw.

I poke fun at Purcells and his "personality" grates on my nerves sometimes, but he's exactly what Dallas needed. He helped rescue a sinking franchise and brought credibility back.

i have to agree Landry tops my list of coaches here, followed by Parcells and closely by Johnson, who slipped because he couldn't duplicate his success here. Parcells has been a winner wherever he goes, and i can guarantee he will have us back in the champion's circle before his tenure is over.

I doubt that Bill Parcells or any other future Coach will EVER equal what Coach Tom Landry has meant to the Dallas Cowboy Organization. That being said, I am extremely grateful that Jerry Jones finally had the forsight to get a "Real Football Guy" to right this ship. No doubt that Coach Parcells will have his own place in Dallas Cowboy history. The fans, the players and the Dallas Cowboy Organization should be honored to have this Living Legend as our Head Coach. I know I am....Good Tribute!!!
