North Dallas Forty to me just kills any good ole days nonsense concerning chicks, drugs and money hungry owners.

Its not so much a movie about the Cowboys as it is the way pro athletes conducted themselves off the field which was essentially just like a lot of the 90s Cowboys did.

In 65, 90, or 2005 young rich athletes party too hard and risk too much.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

There was a book?

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Yes, and it was written by a former Cowboy player.

Pete Gent's stats for 5 years in Dallas:

68 catches, 989 yards, 4 TDs

Hmmm, seems to pale in comparison to the heroics in the movie of the Nolte character.

I guess Tom Landry really must have stiffled Gent's greatness.
