I don't know that he really knows how to do much more than run to the football. He's all athlete and instinct at this point. But he is going to test through the roof.
I'd take him over Ingram or Upshaw six ways to Sunday. Both of those guys are more ready to start, but at best they're Spencer with a better motor. Slow.

I'd definitely take Irvin over Upshaw on the basis of his impact potential and I could live with him being a pass rush specialist so long as we think he can beat NFL OTs. There has to be some concern about his ability to play in the base defense but I hope he'd pick that up in his rookie season and be ready to play full-time in his second year.
I would say that based on the film I've seen I'd take Ingram over him. Ingram looks to be a more complete player who is Irvin's equal as a pass rusher. The bonus with Ingram is that you can probably play him at OLB, DE and DT. You just have to love that kind of versatility in the defense that Ryan is trying to put together here.
