I dunno why, Barron and Kirkpatrick are very good players, big physical and smart.
Garrett was the QB coach when Saban was the head coach at Miami and they are close friends. I'm sure Saban talks to Garrett about these players and Garrett trust what Saban has to say.

Barron is the leader of that great defense making all the calls and lining up players. He reads the formation and knows what plays about to happen.

Kirkpatrick although I don't hink he is a top 3 CB in this draft is what Ryan likes. Big strong physical and smart.

Now I do not like Upshaw in Ryan's scheme, I think Upshaw is a 4-3 DE to stiff to play LB in the NFL.

But I would be happy with Barron or Kirkpatrick. There are other players I would prefer but they are bette than Poe or Brockers.

so did Dallas trade back.

I like Flecther but I don't think he will be at 14. If he is the best DT in the draft hen he should go top 10.

I also don't see much difference in Cox, Still or Reyes(who is my favorite).

So I think if Dallas stays at 14 then its going to be Kirkpatrick, Barron, or Upshaw.
So, because something happens once, it immediately becomes a "trend"??

The way Garrett explained it, the 'Bama workout was just convenient for him to attend... I'd be fine with the Boys drafting one of the 'Bama defensive studs in the first, but just because Jason Garrett attended only one Pro Day last year, and the Boys drafted a player they saw that day in the first round, it doesn't logically follow that every time he attends a Pro Day, a player from that school will be their first round pick...

It could happen, the draft board seems to be heavily loaded with Tide defensive players at that point... it's just not the lock some of y'all are making it out to be...

Truth is, in the last coupla days, I'm coming back around to my original view, which is no matter what the Cowboys are saying right now for public consumption, if David DeCastro is still on the board at 14, he's their pick... if he isn't, I look for a trade down into the low 20s, at which point all of the usual defensive suspects (prospects) come into play...

I have some reservations about both players' speed and quickness for the next level... I think Barron will be a somewhat more talented Roy Williams, and I think Kirkpatrick will ultimately be forced to free safety by an inability to stay with the quicker wideouts...

You are, of course, right about Poe and Brockers... just say no to any defensive lineman not named Fletcher Cox (OK, Quinton Coples if he slips)...

OK, I've got a baker's dozen of possible undrafted rookie free agent prospects that the Boys have brought into Valley Ranch for a meet and greet, that I kinda like... I'm not suggesting we sign all of these players (for example, I have 3 QBs on this list, and they're not signing 3 QBs), just that we should have these players on our target list after the draft... naturally, one or more of these prospects might wind up getting drafted...

QB GJ Kinne, Tulsa
QB Nick Stephens, Tarleton State
QB Nathan Dick, Central Arkansas

RB Lance Dunbar, North Texas... I think of him as a poor man's Phillip Tanner...
RB Joe Banyard, UTEP

TE/FS Logan Brock, TCU

WR David Douglas, Arizona
WR/KR Cole Beasley, SMU

OG Ronald Leary, Memphis
C Grant Garner, Oklahoma State

ILB Korey Toomer, Idaho

CB Greg McCoy, TCU

P Anson Kelton, TCU... this kid puts a lot of balls inside the 20...

Gimme about ten of these players as undrafted rookie free agents, and I'll bet you find two or three undiscovered gems in that group...

The ONLY center on either listing is Konz....crazy?
There's no right way to do the wrong thing.

To compete for the playoffs, Dallas has to improve here: Only four sacks against Eli Manning over the past six games!

Bear, this is my favorite picture in the draft. I wouldn't hesitate on David Decastro...if he's gone, (stupid Cardinals), then I want a move down as you suggest. I would then target Glenn, or in the second round - 32 Amini Silatolu OG Midwestern State.

With the move down, I would be very tempted to go ahead and take Konz as well. With the extra second round pick, and the extra fourth round pick, there is still flexability to add depth in the defensive line, OLB, ILB, CB, and safety positions. beyond Silatolu and Konz, the team would have a 2nd, 3rd, and two 4th rounders to get the targeted positions with. That still excites this fan.

And as you state, and yearly do so with great clarity, there are people undrafted that can make the roster as well.
