Spencer has been great stopping the run and leading the team in applying pressure to opposing QBs this year. I guess we'll only have one player applying pressure (D. Ware) for a second straight weekend!

Look at it this way, it drives his cost down in the future when he's not on the field, so it all evens out.

Does anyone on this team actually play?

And then the annoyance of these injuries just constantly keeping players out. Day to day turns to week to week and then month to month.

They just let Flacco air it out all day so having Butler out there only costs you something in the run game. Pass rush is relatively similar right now but I think Butler could improve.
Knowing our luck they'll run Rice 30 times on Sunday. Teams always stop doing what they've been doing when they play us. It's like they wake up finally or something when the Cowboys come to town. 'Oh wait, why are ignoring Rice, let's start running him. Who are we playing again? The Cowboys, oh perfect."

Luck has nothing to do with it.

Witnessing a coaching staff that has been completely inept at doing that very thing and be unable to stop it when teams to alter their game plans for a decade now has taken a tole on these fans.

GOOD COACHES CHANGE THEIR GAME PLANS FROM WEEK TO WEEK. This is a concept completely foreign to Jason Garrett.

I disagree. A coach is going to stick with his gameplan if he has faith in it. You can't change it from week to week. You can't run the ball one week and then the next week pass 50 times. Your team has no identity.

Spencer is a very good player. I think the dropoff between his play and that of Butler/Albright is significant, particularly against the run. My hope is that the injury heals for him to play again this year. I think Orakpo had a similar injury in the pre-season and he wound up tearing it once the season started. Hope that doesnt happen to Spencer.

Time for Butler to step up. This is his chance to show he belongs. Otherwise the 4 year rules applies.

Good Post!

Nice to see Spence finally gettting some props. Too bad he had to get injured to be appreciated.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Hopefully we can see Wilber if Spencer is out, we need to know if the answer to his position is on this team (which it probably isn't).

We can't risk losing him for the season when we really don't have a replacement at all, thats why we gave him the tag in the first place.

Well his pressure did force opposing QBs to throw early (bad passes) or throw the ball away.......I guess that could be equivalent to a sack for no gain/loss.

IRVING, Texas -- Anthony Spencer's pectoral strain could keep him out of a second straight game, and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan isn't sure the Dallas Cowboys starting outside linebacker will be able to play anytime soon.

"That's a longer injury than people realize," Ryan said. "It's up to a six-week injury, I've heard, or even longer. That's a big thing. He's working hard every day, but he's just going to have to get well. Once he is, we'll play him, but if he's not, we obviously can't do it even though the kid wants to play. We just can't do it."
