There's a huge forest area behind where i live now if i where to take the job offer i would really miss those relaxing walks in that forest. Would be nice if there was something like that at least in driving distance from where i would live

There is a lot of state parks near by and the best Forest was Bastrop near Austin most of that burned down last year.
Bandera is right there it is more rocky small mountain type walks and it has horse trails has some real nice views. In fact I will be going there in November for a backpacking camp out with Scouts.
Go down to San Marcos and they have a small class 1 rapids you can train Kyak all year round or Canoes.
Enchanted Rock is an 80 miles away and you can Rock Climb and repel there and some great views.
Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge is about 2 hours away
Guadalupe State Park (never been)
Wimberly has an awesome zipline place

The amount of stuff in the area is mind boggling why we do a lot of Scout trips to that general area all the way from Houston.
