I think the Texas Rangers got it right for specifically putting the word "Anniversary" on the patch...that takes care of the confusion. If they started in 1972, 2012 IS their 40th anniversary (41st season).

Think of it like a birthday.
It's a new season, let's go!

So was this my 25th or 26th birthday?? I should sue insurance companies since I was 25 when I was 24. Premiums should have dropped a year earlier.

So after the first game they season is completed or do they have to complete the season for the season is completed?

If your going to celebrate 50 seasons of football I thinks it pretty safe to assume you have to play 50 SEASONS OF FOOTBALL. Not 49 seasons and 1 game.

Once the season starts that is the first season. We are now in our 53rd season, not our 52nd. 2010 was our 51st, not our 50th. Our 50th annivesary was January 28, 2010, but the season was our 51st.

1984, honored by Tex Scgramm was our Silver Anniversary.

1984 + 25 years = 2009, not 2010. We waited 26 years to add a Golden Anniversary because Jerry was more interested in celebrating a new stadium in 2009. That irks me. I don't know why others are cool with it.

But to each his own I guess.

No. On your 25th birthday you begin your 26th year.
