What value could an olineman add to the practice squad?

Jerry Franklin's a name I recognize...Arkansas LB? I liked him a lot in the draft.

I liked Franklin in the draft as a 3-4 ILB.
Finau played 4-3 DE in college and the Eagles had him at DT. His size (6-4, 288) would suggest that 3-4 DE is his best shot.

That is pretty much the case.

Why waste a space on the practice squad with a lineman when it is such a team strength? It would be a waste of time trying to develop any. On second thought, they couldn't develop linemen for the last 15 years, so why try now.

We're already trying to develop an offensive lineman on the practice squad, and our roster is already heavy with offensive linemen (partly because of injuries). Even if it's not a strength, you can't just overload your roster with numbers at one position group. You still need to have enough players and practice bodies at all of the other positions.

I don't know if I understand your question.
The same value any other position would add. A chance to develop a young player.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

See Adam's answer...
Additionally, we're clearly hurting on the DL and LB positions. They need guys to practice, too.

Plus if you have two better guys at other positions than the OL... Then you have to go that route.
