Roster massaging
Mornin...
Woke up to some good news here about the roster. Haven't been on the net this weekend much, been visiting the folks/family in CT and celebrating my recent wedding engagement. Anyhow, seems like some solid moves to me:
Most likely adding Price.
Trading for Fujita (I can still hear Norm from the Ticket yelling 'grab a Fajita!' from his draft coverage from a couple years back).
I'm surprised we cut Robinson....but I guess Pierce and a rook we have have shown good.
Surprised we only have 2 safties on the roster right now?! That must be changed quick, we better not have any injuries in the first game there.
Surprised Vollers got cut, though he was a solid backup.
Thankfully we kept all our RBs, outside of Kincade.
I imagine Morgan must be gone once Price signs.

I Think another Safety is coming, as for Vollers, maybe his wrist is worst then reported. I know Parcells thinks he has limited talent, but he could play both sides, so it's a mild surprise. Robinson makes to much money for just deep snapping. :iggles:

Reeves has been playing nickel safety so we're not totally bare.

Removing Robinson from the roster and replacing him with the rookie probably saved about $1.1 million from the cap. With the probable upcoming release of Quincy Morgan that should cover the cost of Price's salary.
To me the odd thing is that we are a 3-4 team with a ton of DL:
Glover
Ferguson
T Johnson
Ellis
Canty
Spears
Coleman
Ratliff
Ogbogu (he would not last if asked to play true OLB responsibilities)
My guess is that this is a transition year and Parcells wanted to keep the young guys for the full transition next year but wanted to keep the older guys (Ellis, Glover) because they can still be very productive in the nickel defense and can teach the youngsters about how to play DL in this league.
I suspect that if the youngsters on the DL live up to their billing this year, Ellis and Glover will be traded next offseason for draft picks.
At some point we may have to release a couple other players - we still need a backup safety and I think we still need a backup for Flo. My guess if we find a backup for Flo, Noll goes back to the practice roster. If we find a backup safety, Ogs is the most likely goner.

Guys at the end of the roster are developmental types and are inactive for the games. BP said that big d-linemen that show well won't make it to the practice squad.

Good thing - because if we were totally bare, I'd never look at cbz the same.

Speaking of roster massaging, what's the likelihood they bring guys like Robinson and Carson back in the 2nd week?
I don't think anything is stopping us from bring Robinson back at a reduced salary, just in case the Condo guy doesn't inspire confidence.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

No free safety on the field is the same as Lynn Scott or Tony Dixon. We will play with 10 on the field if need be.
Move Key to FS?

That's a pretty good take except for the Ogbogu part. He is our only backup for Ware now that K Thornton is on IR. I think we cut a CB (B Thornton or Jones; probably B Thornton) when we find a Safety.

I forgot about the extra CB - that's a very likely possiblity, too.
