true but when we were 13-3 and lost, it proved we sucked

So the Cowboys might have a chance to get schooled by every NFC East team in a Week 17 "win and you're in" scenario? Awesome.

In all seriousness, I would like the Cowboys' potential chances better against the Redskins than the Eagles or Giants in previous seasons. The Cowboys have much better offensive skill position talent than the Redskins, and both teams have critical injuries on defense. The Redskins are doing well because they're playing with confidence and defensive coordinators are still figuring out Griffin.

It maybe be improbable that this Cowboys team is good enough to finish 3-1 in the last month to reach that point. However, by the same token, for the Redskins to get to 9-7 they would have had to gone 6-1 in their final 7 games to get there.

Meanwhile, the Giants always seem to have to get right on the edge of the cliff before they get their act in order. I think they're about at that point. The trouble with the Giants is they now are 3-3 in the division and have tough road games at Atlanta and Baltimore on the schedule. I still think they're the favorites, but they got very slim margin for error.
I think you are right about 9-7 winning the division meaning if we go 3-1, one of those losses has to be to Pitt or Cincy. I don't know what the tiebreakers are in a 3 way tie scenario but I know we would win the tiebreaker over the Giants who have 3 losses in the division and we would only have two being that we would have beaten the Skins. Bottom line this team needs to win every game and not worry about tiebreakers. It's time for this team to do something they haven't done before and that's run the table in December.

Going on the road EVERY GAME and winning a Super Bowl is flukey? I hate the Giants like the next man but that's insane.

Yeah, a sample size of 4 games is pretty flukey. If the Giants were far and away the best team in the NFL last year, it's amazing how they couldn't do better than 9-7 over the course of a 16 game season. Also amazing how almost the same identical roster seems to be looking at a similar record during the course of a 16 game season this year.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

Division tie breakers would go
1) Head to Head (would be a tie if we beat them Week 17)

2) Division Record (would be a tie if we beat them Week 17, assuming they beat the Eagles).

3) Common non-division opponents (Washington is currently 2-4 against common opponents with 2 more common opponents left to play, Cowboys are 3-2 against common opponents with 3 more common oppoents left to play

But, yes, you're right ... Cowboys just need to win the rest of their games and let the chips fall where they may).

Thanks for this. That common opponents looks pretty big right now. Winning 2 of 3 of those games will put in pretty good position.

Easy there Tiger

Don't forget the SB run in 2007.

We beat these teams in order, all on the road.

Tampa
Dallas (#1 seed in the NFC)
Green Bay (#2 seed in the NFC)
Pats (#1 seed in the League)

When you add 2012 run the picture is more impressive.

I don't count Atlanta since we played at home.

Than we played on the road against defending Superbowl Champs Packers that were the #1 seed in the NFC
Than we played at Candlestick against 49ers who were the #2 seed in the NFC
Than we played against Pats who were the #1 team in the AFC

Please stop calling that fluke.

Yes NFC East is a beast

If Romo was in another division, he would be a play off regular.

Vick looks like a disaster in NFC East.

Put him in any other division he will be one of the better QB's in the division.

NFC East has been a battlefield year in and out.

Why the hate for NFC East?

Giants will beat the Saints to a pulp. The Saints are the kind of one-dimensional passing attack that the Giants traditionally feast on. You're not beating NY unless you have a solid running game.
