Well the bright side is if he's out of jail, then there's opportunity for some kind of "accident" to happen to him.
Just saying.
Seriously though, that's some big time idiocy going on there, or some kind of corruption with someone higher up.
That dude should have been served the DP, not released.

I hope no accident happens to him because the piece of garbage deserves to rot in jail for the rest of his life.

I hate to say it, but if they haven't tried him by now there might be something wrong with their case.

They set a $50,000 bond before the other judge set a no bond order. Then, somehow, he wanted to post bond and got them to consider the initial bond. Seems like a mistake to me, but a criminal case pending for 5 years is a super long time even for a murder case. Any idea why the case is taking so long to try?

Well only thing I heard was this guy got a new lawyer, but that still shouldn't delay it this long.

Your family, and even you, could call the prosecution and tell them how you feel about it and that you want justice. Just suggesting something that may put pressure on the DA's office to pursue the case more than they already are. 5 years without a trial is almost unheard of here.

In Texas a murder suspect is brought before the JP initially. He sets the bond pending formal arraignment before the district judge who will hear the case. At the time the J P sets the bond the suspect may or may not have been indicted for capital murder(death penalty case) Once the District Judge sees the defendant the bail can be set the same ,lower or higher. In this case the JP's recommendation was left in the defendants folder and someone used it to set bail. When the defendant's folder followed him from one county jail to the next is when the bail was set. A terrible mistake ,but that's all it appears to be.
As for as the time frame for the case to be trialed, it a long time --but fairly common in cases involving the death penalty and multiple defendants..

Five years on cases such as this are not uncommon. And Pressuring the DA office doesn't do any good. There are a multitude of factors that make a case take time to go to court. Two defendants is one of them.

Wow, something really doesn't seem right about this story. How could something like this happen? I, like many others have asked, wonder what is taking so long with the trial?
Sorry C&L that you and your family have to go through this. I hope justice is finally served.
