After that Steeler game, you can really see what this receiver corps can do firing on all cylinders. They can make some crazy match-up problems.

For the first time in a long time, Dallas is set at WR and even TE for a few years. What are they lacking (other than a full ten fingers from Dez this year)? They really don't need to sniff at the draft for a WR or TE unless there is a little lightning KR/PR. Even then, they should find a RB who has that skill.

Dallas has almost every shape, size, style, and speed (always add alliteration) that you might need for any receiving situation. This year, three players could reach 1000 yards even though there were some injuries and it was not the best year on offense. Think what can happen when some of these other players get involved and all players are at full health.

I just saw The Hobbit so I'm kind of in Middle Earth mode. Behold the invading horde coming to a secondary near you.

Of course, there are a few replaceables, even though both players have impressive physical skills.

I don't agree. We need to draft or sign a free agent to play on the outside. Most of our depth is at the slot position. I don't think I would be counting on many more productive years from Miles Austin either. He has lost a lot of explosiveness due to the hamstring injuries and right now is only effective in the slot. I do not want to head into next season with Ogletree as our number two outside receiver.

He's looked real good out there. But the fanbase talks about him like a top five reciever, which he is not. He's expendable under the right circumstances.

I dont think anyone is confusing Miles Austin with a top 5 reciever. He is among the best #2 recievers in the game. Anyone is expendable under the "right circumstances".

You have 2 receivers who will have 1000 yards this season (Miles, Dez) one tight end who will have a 1000 yards(Witten), some young guys with potential who show promise(Harris, Beasley) and some guys who we have yet to see(Coale, Holmes). I'm confused to how we "need" a receiver? I'd take a shot on a guy who is falling late in the draft but i'm not spending our top 3 picks on receiver.

What? Nobody talks about Miles as if he's a top 5 receiver. Miles is a very solid 1b to Dez's 1a as of right now.

Yeah, we want somebody in the rotation who's capable of starting and who can absolutely stretch the defense. Though I think Austin looks healthy again, his hammies are so iffy, we need someone with enough speed outside to fill in for him, when necessary.

I see where you are coming from. I see Harris as that guy.
I dont think the reciever unit should be messed with. Unlike many here, I feel as Ogletree fills a role with the group. Just continue to use Ogletree, Harris and Beasley in the situations that suit them. IMO its hard to argue with what we have working at the moment.

I'm not picking nits. We're better off than we have been now. I'd rather get a speed guy to replace KO on the active roster. A player like Armstrong, only one they feel comfortable playing some snaps.

I think the WR/TE corps is shaping up quite nicely. They've developed / brought along some nice young talent this season in Harris, Beasley, and Hannah. In fact, I'd say the Cowboys overall WR/TE talent is easily in top top of the NFL and trending upwards.

The one piece that isn't there, and it isn't absolutely mandatory, is a super-slot little/quick/strong quick guy like Percy Harvin / Randall Cobb. Again, those types of players are rare and they are a nice to have - not mandatory.

It's nice to see an optimistic post; however, I think they're one injury away from big problems.

I don't see a legit backup for Dez or Austin.

Harris is really good at his role as the 3rd WR; however, he lacks the size or speed of a true outside #2 receiver.

Beasley has been decent in his very limited snaps but he puts a strain on the Coaches when putting together the 46-man game-day roster. It's difficult to continually have a 4th WR active that only gets about 5 plays per game and does not contribute to Special Teams.

Ogletree has great physical ability to play either outside or inside, but he just doesn't have what it takes mentally. He is a FA and I don't expect him to return.

Anthony Armstong has speed, but at 5'10-1/2, 180, he is not an ideal #2 receiver either.

Danny Coale might be an option next year IF he can stay healthy. At 6-0, 202 with sub-4.5 speed, and good agility, he could probably play outside or inside.

Andre Holmes has the size and speed to play outside, but he looked lost in preseason. He barely got any snaps while on the active roster.

At TE, Phillips really needs to be replaced by a better blocking TE. I hate to give credit to a Moron, but they have not come close to replacing MartyB's blocking.
