So you will not play at Seattle and at San Francisco, also not at Oakland and at San Diego. Changed just a couple of years ago.
Cool.. thx for the info. A lot of people are confused about the Oakland & KC games.

I'm confused...to whom did the OP refer when he said "we"?

Was it Dallas since this is a Cowboys board or Washington because he's a troll fan of theirs?

If memory serves (and it very well may not), this problem was recognized a few years back when the AFC East played both the AFC and NFC West in the same season.

This resulted in NE and the Jets having to play at SD, OAK, SF and SEA in the same season, while BUF and MIA traveled to KC, DEN, STL and ARI, which is considerably less mileage.

The pairings within each division were originally done alphabetically with no regard for geography.

The solution was to redo the pairings in the Western Divisions as SEA/STL, SF/ARI and SD/KC, OAK/DEN.

The result in our case will be to have OAK at home and KC on the road next season, even though both happened last time we played the AFC West.

We will also go from 2005-2017 without playing OAK on the road or KC at home.

Not a problem. The thread that someone linked to the History Zone here has not been corrected, and I no longer can. If someone on the staff sees this and wants to it will make that thread useful again.

It is a bit confusing, but once you understand why they did it, it makes sense and going forward from this year it is forever in sync unless they add teams to the league or go to 18 games.
