Why do I have this recurring fear that Dave Campo or Barry Switzer will be punching that consulting clock by February?

More than likely you are correct, but just to give you and me a ray of hope. I think it is all about appearances and public perception with Jerry. I don't think he has as much of a problem with bringing in a "football guy" as he does people thinking he is not still the GM and large and in charge. Not sure of Holmgren as his expertise is the West Coast Offense. I wonder if a Brian Billick would consider an offense "consultant role" He was the OC for the 5th highest scoring offense in NFL history in Minny 98... Just a wishful thought,

The last thing we need is another cook in an already packed kitchen. What this organization needs is a new leader at the top.

Well... Jerry Jones is at it again...(if this is true)..all his talk about bringing an OC or a consultant is undermining the HC and his authority..same ol same ol.....

He let himself get caught in the moment losing the last game. Some honest person needs to get to his ear and remind him he is lucky to have his team playing such a game in the last week with all the injuries and off the field incidents....

He better focus on getting the team healthy and letting his HC continue the good foundations he's been laying out ...

I hope Jerry is tired of just being lucky enough to have a chance in the last game.

You guys need to factor in more than 1 year. Especially when it comes to the offense.

We've used the no offseason and injury excuse. What's next?

According to the JG group he gets one more year and if we sit 8-8 again he's gone. One year too late IMO.

And frankly, if the "consultant" is okay with that, I am all for it. Whatever it takes to get Jerry to stop playing Madden with our team.
What it would take is a guy who loves what he's paid to do so much, who loves fb operations so much, and perhaps loves his paycheck so much that he's willing to forgo the credit. A wizard of oz behind the curtain is fine with me if it gets this team on track. And if Jerry's and his ego take the credit and said consultant is fine with that.... It may be our only hope....

Will absolutely positively never happen.

Jimmy being content where he is aside, Jerry hiring him would be a public admission that he can't win without Jimmy. It would be a definitive statement that the last 17 years were a complete mistake and a waste.

I think Jerry would rather set himself on fire than stand at a microphone and admit that.
