[quote=erod;4970971]I readily admit that I can't judge a position coaches abilities from afar. Nor can anyone else.
This for sure.
Amazing how everyone see's all these moves as good or bad at this point. I'm just encouraged to see that there is some coaching positions being filled in with mix of veteran/NFL and college experience. College only from a perspective of being able to identify with younger players and rookies.
At least it's not one of JJ's cousins who's experience is weekend fantasy football and needs a job. Of course Nutt and JJ could be related with Arkansas "roots". (Deliverance banjo music playing in the background).
Just kidding JJ lovers.

I love the fact that we are bringing in guys from the college ranks in Kiffin and Nutt. IMO that's what gave Jimmy & staff a clear advantage in the draft since they recruitted most of the elegible draftees. Me thinks Jerry is going back to the basics and doing the thinks that worked in during his successful run back in the 90's. Kudos to Jerry.

How the hell is Ware going to hold up as a 4-3 DE? This guy is going to get so beatup its not funny, I mean he's only like 255lbs + he has a bad shoulder to boot.

As I said in the other thread on Nutt and Marinelli....
Rod is a class act as a person and coach: just fantastic to have him in the fold. Driving home from work today and was listening to WSCR 670AM outta Chicago and they're guardedly optimistic about their new HC, Marc Trestman. They then talked about how he tried HARD to get Marinelli to stay but that Coach M. was moving on...but they didnt say WHERE. I get home and find out he's coming to Big D'. VERY nice...I sure hope you guys are right about DC in waiting and him influence Melton: both of those developments make total sense. Derek Brooks was quoted the other day as saying Kiffin wants his reputation back and wants it back badly. Tells me he'll be here a couple years tops and retire. Go out a winner hopefully and turn it over to Coach Marinelli: works for me!

...nope, not kidding and I know alot of you have a serious man crush on him but darnitt, we have SERIOUS ISSUES on this team and if you could get a VERY good DT for him and a high draft pick: #2 maybe? then I'd seriously consider it. We know the wear and tear he has but he's still good enough to get a VERY nice haul. I know it's blasphemy to some of you, but there are a few 3/4 teams that would give ALOT for this guy. I love what he's done for this team, but let's face it, he's never been a dynamic leader IMO. They should consider it, because he really is very small for Def. End in the 4/3.

he'll still be a beast......some are maulers , some are technicians, he is the latter .....size isnt the only factor.....remember when Emmitt was too small?
Chris Clemons 254lbs
Bruce Irvin 248lbs
Brian Robison 259lbs
Osi 255lbs
Cliff Avril 260lbs
there are many DEs Ware's size....and with his talents he will be one the best still

I am wondering how this new stance affect his lower back. If he favors his shoulder at all, that could put more strain on his back.
Everyone has a plan, until they get hit.

If Jerry could improve a team as an actual GM it would have happened 15 years ago.

Probably because he does not operate the way you guys think a GM should and he's not involved in scouting. I've heard that before.

Sure he does. He hires and fires the staff and make all final decisions on personnel.

I don't get this rational at all. He rushes practically every down now as it is, how is it going to be any different for him? Just because he has his hand on the ground? Will be going up against the tackle just like he did standing up
