Default What year Macbook is this?

I am picking up a used one from Craigslist... Well I am in negotiations for one. I am getting it for only $300 which is seemingly a excellent price for a good condition Macbook but I am very inexperienced with them and am not sure what year this is/how good a deal this is/if it is even a good deal. The guy initially asked for $450 but I am pretty good at negotiations and we are agreed at $300 although I left it open ended so I could back out at any time.. Business Law paying off

I figure if this is any good year and I don't like the Mac product I could flip it for around $400-$450 so it should run me a moderate profit. Worst case I could dump it for same price.

What throws me off is the white keyboard. Most pics of macs I can find have a black keyboard. Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Here are the pics:

Didn't get a model number?

Here's the original 2006 model and 2008 model.

Here's a pretty good calculator to get a rough idea of what it may be worth. It'll vary from Craigslist to ebay, etc, but I've found it a pretty good starting point for getting a idea of the value.

http://www.mac2sell.net/

That white MacBook started I think in 2006, and was discontinued around 2011. You'd need the specs - if he could email them, he can find them under the Apple menu -> About My Mac. If you can find out the processor and memory it has, that'll narrow down about what year it is.

I checked on the website above and the earliest model, from early in 2006, with the lowest specs, is valued about $210. You'd need to find out more about the specs on the one he is selling to get a better idea.

Also, the Wikipedia MacBook page has every model and year and what all the specs are.

Also, you might find out from him if the battery is still decent.

My girlfriend still has that Macbook from later in 2006 and it's still going strong.

Don't commit to buy until he gives you the model number and specs.

Most models prior to the mid-2009 model are not compatible with most modern Mac features--Mountain Lion, iCloud, new iTunes, etc. anything earlier than a mid-2009 model is definitely not worth more than about $150.

That Macbook looks exactly like the one given to my son by the College he attended to. His course in Computer Graphics and Web design provided a new Macbook to all the students. It is a 2010 model.

And, like the new iMac that he just got, that Macbook is also an amazing machine.

As someone else has mentioned, the Apple products are more geared for video/graphic play and design, and for music and video producing, which he does.

I wanted his Macbook when he got his iMac but he says he still needs it because it's portable for when he's in the studio with the band.

It is a 2010 model. I don't know anything about macs but the guy is asking if I will take it or he will relist it, yes/no? I am thinking its a good deal.

For 300 bones you cannot go wrong with that Macbook.

Even if you had to replace the battery (which is a little pricey) it's a good deal.

My son is not here at the moment, but I believe that is the exact computer that his school provided their students to keep after graduating.

If it were me, I would get it. Good luck!

Thank you! After google searches and ebay searches in bad condition this is moving for around $300, AS IS for about $225 and by the pictures I have been sent it seems to be in good shape so I figure if I don't like it worst case I will make a small profit. Can't go wrong with that

All is well. Might resell it, might not still deciding. Will probably post it for $500 and I expect it to go within 2 weeks based on sales on Ebay. Hard to turn down $200 profit lol.
