Default Trading back has to be the best option

Assuming 2 things....

1. Jerry is still his same old stubborn self and won't draft Warmack or Cooper in the 1st.

2. Floyd, Richardson, Werner, Jordan, Lotulelei, Moore, Joeckel, Fisher, and L. Johnson are all gone.

I'm seriously struggling to find anyone else worth taking other than those 9. Don't like Vaccaro any more than 3 or 4 other safties and we can afford to pass on Ogletree because its not a huge need. Am I missing someone or should Jerry already be on the phones looking to get out of 18? I think we are in a very spot in this draft.

And I know the obvious answer is to just draft 1 of the guards, but I'm just not convinced Jerry is going to do it.

If we traded back into the later first round, I could see going with Sylvester Williams and then taking Cyprien or Swearinger in round 2.

I do like Richardson and Floyd better than S Williams, but not that much more. He would be a very good fit in Marinelli's line and would add a versatile rotational piece right away.

Either Cyprien, Elam or Swearinger would be day 1 starters at S IMO.

On top of those two guys, we'd have an additional 2nd or 3rd from the trade back and in this draft, there will be good guys available at those picks.

I would still rather see us take Cooper or Warmack at 18 though, but it might not happen if they are there.

As for Vaccaro, I'm still not convinced that he isn't the best S by far. There is an awful lot to like about him and if Kiffin thinks he is that special, then I wouldn't complain about him in the first.

Right now though, I like Cyprien, Elam and Swearinger in the 2nd more than I like Vaccaro in the first.

In a trade down, I would rather take Fluker (as RG/RT) and pick up Phillip Thomas or David Amerson in the third.

Cowboys could address DL in the second: Brandon Williams, Tank Carradine, Margus Hunt

Fluker and Carradine/Williams would add some much needed physicality and nastiness to the trenches. Amerson or Thomas would bring a true ballhawk to the secondary.
"Our guys are gonna be good, and we know it. So that ain't talkin'. That's just the (bleepin') way it is."

Yeah I mean I honestly don't see a huge difference between some guys who will be available in the 3rd and what we would be looking at with 18 if it plays out how I detailed in the OP. If its between taking Vaccaro at 18 or trading back and getting Elam/Cyprien + an extra 3rd I'm choosing the latter without hesitation.

I agree. Actually, I'd rather wait until round 2 for a safety and go OG or DT in the first, even if we do trade back a little. The question is will the Cowboys think any guard or DT left is worth a late first. I have a suspicion that Dallas will rate S Williams pretty highly and might take him late in the first in a trade back scenario.

Of course if any of these guys are there at 18, I think we have to pull the trigger:

Richardson, Floyd, Warmack, Cooper or Lotulelei

That is a big question right now... and I don't see any of the big 3 OT's being available at 18 either.

Kind of over looking the GM's track record on trade backs. Bill Walsh he aint and I'll give him credit on Spencer. 09 and 95 were complete disasters.

Ansah or K. Short would be your pick in round 1 then Cyprien, D. Thomas, Warford,B. Jones in round 2

Are you saying Lacy in round 1 at 18?

I like Lacy a lot too, but is he that much better than a guy like Stepfan Taylor who we could probably get in the 3rd or 4th?

In the late first there will be guys like Sylvester Williams, Kawaan Short, DJ Fluker, etc. available. I'd rather have a RB like Taylor in the 4th and a lineman like Short or Fluker in round 1, than Lacy in the first and a DT in the 3rd or 4th.

I agree completely Sylvester Williams is now on our menu along with DJ Fluker, I am thinking K Short has moved to the second day for us.
Wondering where Tank Carradine(ACL injury fall 2012) is starting to fall these days. IMO Tank and Sylvester are the two best DL other than the ones on your list.
