Quarterbacks that win Super Bowls tend to end up in the Hall of Fame or at least an All Pro - check out this list (Note: I've already pronounced P Manning, Favre, Roethlisberger, Warner and Brady HOF...I think Brees and Rodger will also be HOF, but it's early.) I italicized the QBs that were not HOF, MVP, or multiple Pro Bowlers. Plunkett, Stabler, and Theismann were pretty solid even if not quite HOFers.

However, they are both wildly inconsistant players who got hot in the playoffs. A Super Bowl Title cures a lot of ills...at least for a few years.

As an article said in ESPN.com said this weekend

much like Eli Manning ($20.85 million cap hit in 2013) this past season, Flacco could find himself sitting at home watching the playoffs.

Given the Ravens' other personnel needs, we might look back on this contract and realize the Ravens didn't just lock up their franchise quarterback for the long term -- they took a risk that might hurt the team for years to come.

It also said that the Ravens made theplayoffs is spite of Flacco being terrible this year.

Okay. Just to let you know, Brees joined the NFL in 2001. Big Ben started in 2004.

31 winning quarterbacks, or 2 every 3 SBs.

At least 19 of them will be in the HOF...that number may go as high as 24. (Think it's at least 21 to include Rodgers and Brees.) A HOF quarterback plays every 2 to 3 SBs.

20 of them have been the MVP 26 times.

These numbers are subjective: maybe 12 of the winning quarterbacks will never be in the HOF, and that includes Stabler and Plunkett, who might eventually get in (anti-Raiders bias?) Only about five quarterbacks (like Dilfer) definitely won't be HOF.

Maybe 3 out of 4 SBs are won by a HOFer

I think it takes having a very good QB to contend for titles yearly and eventually win one or two. Still it takes a complete team as well. When you have a great team, it elevates the QB. As we all know, the QB gets most of the credit when teams win, so it isn't surprising that QBs who have won SBs eventually make into the HoF.

I don't know about an anti-Raiders bias. Interesting question. Stabler is deserving in my opinion. Plunkett is not. Plunkett had many just crappy years. Even in the years when the Raiders won the Superbowl, he wasn't lighting it up.

Plunkett never lead the league in any significant category. He finished in the top ten in passer rating only twice in his career, with 9th being his best season. Stabler led the league a couple of times in completion percentage and TD passes and once in passer rating. He also finished in the top ten 5 times for passer rating.

/Heavily biased. Went to the same high school as Plunkett my first two years(James Lick), and my mom grew up with him. His family lived around the corner from me.

You would fit right in with the HoF selection committee. They actually think of sillier reasons to elect someone into the Hall.

It's not just Stabler and Plunkett are not in the HOF, but Ray Guy not inducted raises my suspicions of an anti-Raiders bias.

Or maybe most of the committee is biased towards their home on the East Coast....not many Broncos in the HOF either.
