It took a while to find Aikman's replacement because we never drafted or groomed any QB's while he was still playing.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

So after all the restructuring, likely no holes to be filled and breaking even?

What an awesome job this front office has done.

I have it us at $121,429,214.....which is $1,570,786 under.

It includes the remaining penalty. It's factored in like dead money.

So far starters let me say this. He's 29 and won't be 30 untill deep into the playoffs, and a 5 year deal will run untill he's 33 (34 at the end of the final season). Which doesn't mean we're stuck with him untill he's 34, it only means we're able to spread the bonus out that far and more than likely we can release him at age 31 or 32 if his play drops. That's how contracts are set up in the NFL, nothing specific we're doing, it's what all teams are doing.

I actually REALLY like Spencer but IMO you just have to walk away from some players despite it hurting

Is it possible the Cowboys make FA signings with the idea that at some point they get a long-term deal with either Romo or Spencer worked out? My understanding is they don't have to be under the cap again until later in the summer.
