If traded, Romo's contract won't void the last 3 years. The new team would owe him 4/52, not crazy but worth thinking about. Dallas would take a cap hit of 14.5m this year. While it would save 2.3m on the cap, it's a big number for someone not on the team.

Brady is getting 40m over the next 3 years. He was due 30 for 2 years under his old deal, paid 15m per year. He now gets a 30m signing bonus paid over 2 years and yearly salaries of 1m, 2m and 7m=40m. He has two more years after that at 8m for 2016 and 9m for 2017 which are guaranteed for injury if he is on the team throughout 2014.

If I'm Romo, have to account for whatever savings JJ has in mind from not investing in the OL. That's part of the excuse, Romo can escape the rush therefore we can over come a lack of talent on the front line.
