Ok maybe not Z but the free agent where this team seems to excel but never gets credit for. This free agent comes from not being drafted. I don't need to bore anyone with the list of talent this team has assembled throughout the years. Just curious because if this team really wanted to make room to sign someone they seriously were interested in they would have.

I see one good signing on that list - Orton. And he's not even supposed to play. Sure, Carr is good and a nice guy, but you don't overspend on a #2 CB. Especially not in a year where you give up a first and a second for another CB.

You have to optimize and spend your resources (including roster spots) wisely.
very good post

cant build a team by spending an inordinate amount of resources on the periphery and ignoring the trenches

While I agree you have to hit on both aspects in order to compete consistently I will differ on the idea that we overspent for a #2 CB. At the time Carr was to be our #1 CB. We had no idea we would trade up and get Mo. Looking back maybe we overspent but at the time it was pretty close to mkt rate for a #1 corner.

Gosh you know its rough even when the non drafted FA after the draft cost too much. Instead of the average 2 players they keep from year to year from this pool maybe this year they keep 4-6?

Default Slim...& NONE....

The only players the cowboys could look at right now would have to accept a couple of "Ball Park Franks" hotdogs and a bag of chips... They don't even have enough money to buy a condo in North Dallas. The Boys are sucking wind this year. You can't keep using that credit card once the limit has been breached...

I can't believe people can't see that the Cowboys and nfl in general don't trust that guy. He was a undrafted free agent with Seattle originally and now given only a 1yr deal for a reason.

Maybe Free can pay a couple of free agents from some of that money he's stealing from the Cowboys.

He did

It was titled "Jerry and sons"

Who knew the NFL would turn it into a reality TV show?

A #2 CB eh? Because we KNEW we'd be able to get Claiborne in the draft. Please stop with the revisionist history.
