I decided I won't jump in on either one yet. Will be working in Arizona all summer for an internship so I will be quite bored during my time off, will be watching these and many other shows then.
I have heard a plethora of good things about both and the best part about the success of Vikings is that means undoubtedly History will continue dabbling in scripted series programming instead of reality TV.

It was a different time. I think about what type of show I would watch with kids these days...those old shows work. There is not much family programming these days.

It's interesting, but misses a few points that could further the story.

Not really.
If it's not in the Bible, .. it's just man-made, and it's not worth mentioning.

I have not watched The Bible episodes yet, but I have watched Vikings and while the production quality is good, I'm not really impressed with it so far. I hope it improves as more of the story unfolds as I really like medieval based stories.

Probably won't watch the Bible series but Vikings is awesome so far. 3 episodes in and it's already put Walking Dead in 3rd place for my favorite shows. Nothing trumps Game of Thrones of course..I mean that would be crazy talk.

I just watched Part 3 of "The Bible" last night.
They seem to spend an incredible amount of effort on the violence and gore and just flat out, completely change the story as it is written.
It's almost like they are writing a story about Lincoln and he gets shot while chilling out by the pool. lol
In the History Channel's version of John the Baptist's death. They use an entirely different ruler and scenario. Pontious Pilate? Really, not Herod and Heridias? Unreal. Why not just make the Passover mark butter instead of blood. lol Just blantant misinformation.
Had to vent. Just because it almost seems on purpose, as it's a very well-known story that even non-biblical history books have documented...yet they changed it entirely.
The do it in other places too...not as filler of the unkonown, but just flatout changing what is written. eerie

I quit watching it because of some things that were ODD to say the least.
Now I just stick with watching The Vikings show.

They are really selling out to Hollywood, imo.
They leave out huge parts of stories and have these overly long and gruesome fight scenes, and other graphic killings that I won't even mention.
That is what disappoints me the most, is how they lowered themselves to gore over substance.

No, I knew he that he must have taken a vow of chastity. I also wondered at first if they were testing him similar to the Earl earlier. I wonder if he would have been rear ended by Ragnar? The wife is hot though.

I'm not very knowledgable about the Old Testament.
I have to say though this 3rd episode was not very good.
I don't really care to see 2 small kids get their throats slashed.
