I suppose I never understood the fascination wityh that film to begin with.

Fact is the only film Burt Reynolds ever made I thought had any merits at all was "Sharkey's Machine."

The book was so brilliant and the film was a letdown. But it was clearly the best of the Reynold catalog.

"The Longest Yard" seemed to me to be just a half notch above "Smokey And The Bandit."

I thought it was more of a Cannon Ball run....more stars and such.

But with that said...I still love the movie.

I liked Sharkey's Machine as well... I thought Reynolds was good in Deliverance and in Boogie Nights as well...

I hated Smokey and The Bandit as well as those Cannonball Run whippings...

The smokey and the bandit movies....I do not know why that made him so big....because in all honesty the best parts in the movies were the Jackie Gleason moments.

Same with cannonball run except with Dom.

Deliverance was his best movie in my opinion. I like The Longest Yard more for the football story than his acting.

Exactly. The MOVIE "The Longest Yard" was awesome. Who cares who the main actor was? The movie itself was great.

After the Super Bowl halftime show, this ought to really be an eye opener!

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
