Parcells takes tumble during Cowboys practice
Parcells takes tumble during Cowboys practice
August 3, 2004
OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -- Bill Parcells showed he can take the knocks in training camp as well as his players.
The Dallas coach was knocked to the ground during practice Tuesday when Cowboys tight end Jason Witten ran into him during a passing drill.
Parcells got up smiling and didn't appear to be hurt. The coach doesn't talk to reporters after the afternoon workout.

``I tried to help him up and he said, `I'm all right.' So I left it at that,'' Witten said. ``I was scared to death. I'm sorry coach, I'm sorry, let me help you up. That's the first thing out of my mouth.''
Parcells was laughing when he then told Witten to watch where he's going.
Witten jumped trying to catch an overthrown ball in the end zone, then came down and hit Parcells, who was already trying to move out of the way. The 257-pound tight end tried to hold up the coach, but both tumbled to the ground.
``I didn't know until I hit him, then I saw it was him,'' Witten said. ``I thought I better try to hold him up, but too much was going that one way. So I fell down with him.''

How do you know he didn't??????
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

2 coaches in one day, apparently on a drill - Cowher lined up as a QB and joey porter went in and took him down.

They are showing the "hit" on sportscenter. Jason could not stop himself from running into Bill's back, but he grabbed the back of Tuna's shirt by both hands and you could see that broke Bill's fall considerably. Tuna fell real real easy, even if he can no longer "rock himself to sleep".

I think he will, and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
I look forward to the day when JW is acknowledged as the premier "complete" TE in the NFC, and Shockey is a mere footnote.

Yes sir, that will be a great day indeed As an added bonus, let's hope he's considered better than Winslow too

Bill said JJ gives him the business about drafting TE's every year.
Bills response: Yeah, and I am drafting another one next year.
