Selections
#24
Johnathan Joseph DB South Carolina
Position: CB
Class: So
School: South Carolina
Conference: Southeastern
Ht., Wt.: 5-11, 193
40 Time: 4.37
Grading System
BIO: Junior college transfer coming off a breakout campaign. Posted 55/4/9 last year after playing in just two games during his initial season with the program.
POSITIVES: Nice-sized athlete with excellent upside for the next level. Physical, will mix it up and defends the run. Quick moving in reverse, displays an excellent break to the ball as well as a burst of closing speed. Gets vertical to defend the throw and adjusts in mid-air for the interception. Follows receivers across the field or mirrors them down the flanks and positions himself to make a play on the ball.
NEGATIVES: Displays a lot of hesitation in his game and is not instinctive. Misses tackles. Prefers to side-shuffle.
ANALYSIS: A developing cornerback, Joseph flashes the ability to completely shut down opponents. Still raw and a prospect who needs a lot of development yet offers the underlying skills to start in the NFL.

Andrew Whitworth OT LSU
Position: T
Class: 5Sr
School: Louisiana State
Conference: Southeastern
Ht., Wt.: 6-7, 334
40 Time: 5.19
Selected by: Cincinnati Bengals
Round 2, pick 23 (55 overall)
Grading System
BIO: Four-year starter who played in 52 games with the first team at LSU. All-Conference choice the past two seasons.
POSITIVES: King-sized collegiate tackle who projects to the strong side in the NFL. Plays with a nasty attitude, strong at the point and controls opponents once engaged in a block. Makes effective use of body positioning and blocking angles, and easily rides defenders from the action. Patient in pass protection, jolts defenders with hand punch and keeps his feet moving throughout the action.
NEGATIVES: Lacks adjustment, footwork and struggles against speedy defenders. Marginally effective in motion.
ANALYSIS: A durable and hard-working lineman who rarely misses a practice, Whitworth's size and attention to detail give him a decided advantage as a right tackle.

Frostee Rucker DE USC
Position: DE
Class: Sr
School: USC
Conference: Pacific-10
Ht., Wt.: 6-3.5, 267
40 Time: 4.96
Grading System
BIO: Two-year starter who began his career at Colorado State. All-Conference selection as a senior after totals of 53/12/6.5. Junior numbers included 29/7.5/2.5.
POSITIVES: Pass-rushing defensive end coming off a solid senior campaign. Fast off the edge, plays with good pad level and collapses from the outside making plays down the line of scrimmage. Forceful up the field and effectively uses his hands to keep blockers away.
NEGATIVES: Has only a short-area burst of speed, which he cannot sustain. Under-sized and can be handled at the point by blockers.
ANALYSIS: Flashing potential as a disruptive force, Rucker took off as a senior. Has changed minds after last season and the arrow is pointing up.

Domata Peko DT Michigan State
Position: DT
Class: 5Sr
School: Michigan State
Conference: Big Ten
Ht., Wt.: 6-2.5, 307
40 Time: 5.25
Grading System
BIO: Junior college transfer who broke into the starting lineup as a senior and posted 53/3/1 after 14 tackles the prior season.
POSITIVES: High-intensity defender who projects as a one-gap lineman at the next level. Plays with excellent pad level, gets leverage on opponents and is fluid moving laterally. Fights with his hands throughout the action and plays hard until the whistle blows.
NEGATIVES: Lacks playing strength, can be ridden from the point and rarely gets penetration. Does not display great first step off the snap.
ANALYSIS: Playing with reckless abandon, Peko goes incredibly hard for 60 minutes. Offers upside as a three-technique lineman or rotational tackle in a conventional defense.

AJ Nicholson OLB FSU
Position: OLB
Class: Sr
School: Florida State
Conference: Atlantic Coast
Ht., Wt.: 6-1, 252
40 Time: 4.92
Grading System
BIO: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a senior after leading the Seminoles in tackles with 100/10/1. Led the defense as a junior with 88/12/4.
POSITIVES: Hard-working defender with off-the-field concerns. Athletic, quickly changes direction and moves well laterally with speed. Effective in pursuit and displays good range. Forceful up the field and lays his shoulders into ball carriers. Gets depth on drops and displays awareness in coverage.
NEGATIVES: Over-pursues the action and does not play under great control. Not a sure-handed tackler. Charged with several off-the-field transgressions, including a pair of alcohol-related offenses and assault.
ANALYSIS: A playmaker on the field who can be used in several defensive systems, Nicholson is a solid athlete with a well-rounded game. Needs to control himself off the field, yet offers starting potential at the next level if focused on the task at hand.

QB Reggie McNeal Texas A&M
Position: QB
Class: 4Sr
School: Texas A&M
Conference: Big Twelve
Ht., Wt.: 6-2, 198
40 Time: 4.38
Selected by: Cincinnati Bengals
Round 6, pick 24 (193 overall)

POSITIVES: Dual-threat quarterback who flashes abilities behind center. Patient in the pocket, goes through progressions and consistently looks down the field. Senses the rush, eludes defenders and loses nothing passing on the move. Has a big arm, zipping the ball into targets or driving long passes down the field.
NEGATIVES: Suffered a high ankle injury late in his senior campaign, which slowed him down. Lacks top pass placement. Stares down primary targets or misses open receivers.
ANALYSIS: A student of the game who handles pressure well, McNeal is an underrated signal-caller who can play at the next level once he polishes his game.
