Would you trade up for OU's Peterson?
If JJ doesn't turn out to be the back we all hope he can be, would you consider trading up to get Peterson if the opportunity presented itself? Lets assume that either Romo or Henson are the long term answer at QB, would you take Peterson if the chance to move up came about? He will be a high pick, no doubt. It would cost but he's amazing when he's right.

Runningbacks are cheap now. No need to trade up and get one.

Agreed. Great backs can be found in any round. No need to trade up. Barber is a nice insurance policy too.

we had a pick that was rated high coming out of the draft 2 years ago in Steven Jackson. You see what has panned out with that right?Flashes of brilliance but nothing consistant.Dont waste a draft pick just to take a RB that is rated high in College.

No, I wouldn't do it. Peterson is a great back when healthy. In college, he breaks more tackles than he will in the NFL and he runs with such a straight up style he will probably be injured regularly. Of course, with that said, Eric Dickerson had the same style and had an outstanding NFL career.
Now, if he dropped to the Cowboys pick, #32 in the first round, I might draft him.

Not to be a jerk, but actually it's the worst pick in the draft. It just means something very nice happened 3 months earlier that makes it not so bad.

JACKSON is a much better RB than JULES... but we were able to get SPEARS out of the deal, so thats nice... I would not draft PETERSON! I would wait until JUJO is a FA before replacing him!!!

I can't agree that I would pass on a top ranked RB because you can get a good back in later rounds. Heck you can say that about every position why spend a 1st round pick when on a QB when you can get 1 in a later round? If a college players talent is great ala Dorsett, Campbell, Payton, Dickerson and so on and you have an opportunity to get him in the 1st rd you do so.
