Started nine games on the season, recording 36 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns, leading the team in each category... His 577 offensive snaps were the most of any non-lineman on offense... Ranked as the nation's fourth best return man by The Sporting News heading into the fall... Was WAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against San Jose State... Returned six punts for 105 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown in that game... Was second in the WAC to teammate Tony Pennyman in all-purpose yardage with 138.18 per game... Also ranked third in the league with a 10.00 punt return average... His all-purpose average ranked 26th in the NCAA, while he was 35th in punt return average... Pulled in 43 receptions for 661 yards to rank second on the team in both categories... Led USU with eighth touchdown catches... Had two 100-yard receiving games on the year with 131 yards on nine catches against Louisiana Tech and 116 yards on seven receptions against Nevada... Had 99 yards vs. Fresno State and 91 more against San Jose State.



2004 Season

Team honors included offensive MVP and special teams MVP… One of the nation's best freshmen, earning a number of national accolades… Finished the year second in the NCAA in punt return average (22.5) and would have ranked 20th in kickoff return average, but was one return shy of the national minimum… Returned two punts and one kickoff for touchdowns on the season… His punt returns for scores came against Troy (91 yards) and North Texas (71 yards)… Went 94 yards for a touchdown on a kickoff return against UL-Monroe… Became the first freshman to lead USU in receiving with 44 catches for 602 yards and three touchdowns… Was the fourth-leading freshman receiver in the country in receptions per game (4.0)… Started the season opener against Alabama as he and Chris Forbes became the second and third true freshmen to start a season opener since 1993… In his debut he pulled in five passes for 58 yards and a 35-yard touchdown… Came back the next two games with five receptions for 106 yards and another score against Idaho and seven catches for 70 yards against Utah… Matched the seven receptions against Middle Tennessee later in the year… Had a season-best 116 yard game on five catches against Arkansas State. I know it is hard to base off of 40 yard time how fast someone is. Quickness is nice, for rb. For getting past those few people making a move, but after that move can you burn it out to the endzone?

Looks like the kid has at least 7-9 career punt or kick returns for touchdowns. and a slew of passes caught for TD's.

He knows the end zone.

Back in 05' I actually wanted Dallas to draft Hester in rd 3 (he went mid 2 I believe), but I don't really want to draft a return specialist. Most return specialist either play RB, WR or CB. Assuming we keep 3 RBs, 6 WRs and 5 CBs we'll have trouble fitting one on the roster

Leodis McKelvin of Troy is a CB/PR. He's a top-flight returner that's really impressed scouts with his coverage skills.

He's touted as a 1st-3rd rounder. We could kill two birds with one stone.

He's 5-11 190.....

Plus the last pick we got from Troy was pretty good.
