Default UCF RB Smith Changes Mind & Enters Draft

For all the Draftnik's out there... UCF RB Kevin Smith has decided to change directions and enter this years draft after rushing for almost 2,600 yards.

I would love to see him wearing the star.

Second paragraph down...

Put Smith back on the radar.

This is really, really good news in Dallas. It adds a very good back to an already good year for RB's and will likely push another one down to where we pick.

His pre-combine projection is somewhere in rd2. I wouldn't mind trading down w/ one of our firsts and taking him early in rd2 if that's a possibility.

I would still prefer Rice or Stewart, and Mendenhall is growing on me, but I also realize that Smith would be good value in rd2.

This is all before the combine however. If he runs a poor 40, I can see him dropping down to the 3rd rd....

Default I'd take him

with the second first rounder.

He's that good.

Still hoping Slaton and Felix will change their minds...

I can see Felix wanting to return, but Slaton... that's head scratcher.

I think Chris Johnson is better and he's projecting higher.

I think this is great news because all the Cowboys need is a legitimate back not named Julius Jones. I think if Felix Jones comes out then the Cowboys will be in great shape to get an outstanding back. Now we can stop dreaming about all the scenarios of trading up to get McFadden and use our picks to get some solid players who can contribute to an already good team.

1) Felix Jones
2) Smith
3) Stanton

Drew's Random Thoughts:

"Personally I’m not impressed with Central Florida running back Kevin Smith. I believe he has Ron Dayne disease. He is too slow to the line of scrimmage. He will have to be in a two back offense with an excellent fullback and you tell me how many teams run that kind of offense at the NFL level? Not many. I’m also not sure how quickly he will be able to pick up an offense at the NFL level! As a second or third rounder he would be a solid pick but as a first rounder I think it would be a mistake."

I'm the official "Say No To Slaton" poster... He's not the type of running back Dallas needs. They need a guy like Mendenhall or Kevin Smith.
