Default Is mike Mayock Stupid?

Did i just hear him say that he thinks Matt Ryan will be just as good as payton manning and will be in the same class. I think Marshall Faulk was kinda caught off gaurd when he said that lol.

From the way I took it, I think he was saying that Ryan is in the same class as Peyton as far as their draft value.

He went on to say that if you pooled Big Ben, Mannings (Both of Them) and Ryan and other good QBs as of late, that Ryan would be just as valid a pick as any of them.

I heard him say earlier that he thought Ryan would watch more film than Peyton and everyone on the set pretty much laughed at him over the thought.

I would assume that since Ryan is from his alma mater, he would have a little more insight into how much film he watches. Not to say he might be a little biased, but there wasn't anything wrong with what he said if he can back it up. He tends to back up his assertions after he is criticized.

I like Mayock.
he dosent fall in love with the media darlings, he just goes by what he sees.
Mcfadden is not the best running back in this class he might not even be 2nd best.

I do find it amusing when he's called "stupid" when basically all he is doing is bucking conventional "wisdom" and hype.

He'd be "stupid" if he didn't have anything to back up his assertions. He will answer intelligently to criticism, as he has with his talk about McFadden. But in general, those calling him stupid aren't even intelligent enough to listen to and process what he says, which is nothing but factual observation that you can get if you do watch the same footage he does. He challenged Marshall Faulk and basically shut down his argument because Faulk admitted he hadn't watch a single coach's film on a player.

The only thing he has negative to say about McFadden is that he doesn't change which arm he carries the ball with and sometimes he doesn't continue driving his leg when he's tackled. And the clip he used to demonstrate the leg drive problem is "stupid" because McFadden was tackled from the side in a way that prevented him from driving his legs.

And his character issues, but who is counting. He is "stupid", right?

So, because the clip wasn't detailed to your specifications, he's "stupid"? Could it be that maybe he isn't in charge of that part of the broadcast? There was footage of an offensive lineman yesterday that was supposed to show power per the commentary and basically it was of them covering a fumble.

He isn't the only pundit who has noted McFadden's lack of leg drive. But since he's one of the more outspoken and visable and disagrees with you, he's "stupid".

Lol the only reason why mike mayock likes matt ryan so much is because hes from boston college and so is ryan. You know how those guys are, always fall in love with the players that went to there school. Matt ryan is over hyped. Yes we will be the first qb taken but i wouldnt be surprised one bit if he slides to #8 baltimore or even #14 in chicago.

Anyone that thinks McFadden's "character issues" are something that would put Mendenhall over him is pretty "stupid."

Your point seemed to be that he backs up what he says. There he didn't. That's all I'm saying.

there were several clips of him going down immeadiatley on first contact . also he was one on one with a linebacker and not only couldnt beat him but didnt even gain inches.

Mayock was not saying Dmac wont be a good NFL player just not the player that is hyped to be a savior and there are other options

For me I think it would be a big mistake for dallasto rade any thing for him if we get Stewart, CJohnson , Rice or the kid from illinois at the 22 or 28 pick that would be much better value and one of those guys could very well end up being the better NFL player
