Default 2005 draft recap- Hatcher was supposed to be the worst pick.

Dallas Cowboys
Best pick: Pat Watkins, S, Florida State. Outside linebacker Bobby Carpenter (Ohio State) and tight end Anthony Fasano (Notre Dame_ were solid additions with the team's first- and second-round picks, respectively, but Watkins was a steal in Round 5. If he adjusts to the speed of the NFL and responds well to the coaching, there's good reason to believe that Watkins can eventually become an upgrade over Keith Davis as Dallas' starting free safety.
Worst pick: Jason Hatcher, DE, Grambling. Hatcher is an intriguing developmental prospect because of his size (6-foot-5 7/8, 284), but he was still a reach where the Cowboys selected him in the third round. In all reality, there was a good chance that Hatcher would have still been on the board one round later when the Cowboys selected 125th overall.
Guess they were looking at the combine numbers-----------
Work to do: The Cowboys were not able to address their offensive line needs until Round 7, when they used both selections on lower-tier prospects in guard Pat McQuistan (Weber State) and offensive tackle E.J. Whitley (Texas Tech). Finding an upgrade at right tackle between now and the start of the 2006 season will not be an easy mission

Got ya. Why is it being posted now just out of curiosity?

So who was playing Nostradamus in 2005 with this wrapup, ESPN? I didn't see this listed when I followed your link....

I posted it to remind everyone that the combine numbers are irrelevant most of the time. Lets not get hung up on a work- out warrior. I want another MBIII and Jason Witten. Football Players !!!!!

Proves my point. The combine numbers are irrelevant. Can he play or not?

Or maybe you shouldn't take draft reviews done the day after the draft so seriously.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Hatcher is a good player, maybe he'll get a shot to prove himself. I'd say Skyler Green was the worst player we drafted in the 06' draft.

This whole draft class for the Boys looking back at it, is less than impressive.

Uh, we drafted those guys in 2006, not 2005. I know this because I was in attendance at that Draft.

I don't know, I thought and still think it was pretty decent, omitting the terribleness that was Green. We got a lot of depth it seems in this draft. Carpenter, Fasano, Hatcher, Watkins, and McQ. I would have preferred to at least come away with somebody who was getting significant starting time, but all of these guys are still very promising. It's just a shame that we (the cowboys) will probably never get to see how good they could be.

Right now I'd have to see the best pick of this draft was Hatcher, and then Watkins.
