DMN: Blog: Breer: Talib invited to Valley Ranch

Talib invited to Valley Ranch

Kansas CB Aqib Talib, a Richardson Berkner product, will visit the Cowboys facility in mid-April, joining UNLV LB Beau Bell and Arizona CB Antoine Cason as those set to come to Valley Ranch.

Talib's case is a little different than those of the other two. Because he's a local product, the team is allowed to conduct a workout with him at Valley Ranch, something the Cowboys can't do with out-of-area prospects. And his presence will not count against the team's quota of 30 in-house visits with draft-eligible players.

Here's a list of some other kids who would be eligible under said exemption ...
Houston RB Anthony Alridge (Denton)
Oklahoma TE Joe Jon Finley (Arlington)
Cal RB Justin Forsett (Arlington Grace Prep)
Kansas DT James McClinton (Garland Lakeview)
Texas DT Frank Okam (Lake Highlands)
Colorado CB Terrence Wheatley (Plano East)

I honestly think Jerry visits this board, now all we have to do is give James Hardy a ring

As a Talib backer I'm glad to see all the interest by the Cowboys.

Talib at safety not corner. That all I'm gonna say.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Cason is more fit to be a safety then Talib imo.

Im hoping for one of those other guys to drop.

Good to hear, especially about Cason...But do these predraft workouts amount to much?...Aren't the 'boys tipping their hands this way prior to the draft or is this a smokescreen?...I don't recall previous seasons and visits & draft and how that played out.

Can anyone comment?

Oh no way. Cason plays very tight man coverage. It's what he excels at.
