All Time 53 Man Roster
I looked at the current 53 man roster with today's moves and decided to see what the All time 53 man roster might look like. By my count here is the breakdown by position followed by my choices.
OFFENSE
QB...3 (Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, Danny White)
RB...3 (Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, Herschel Walker)
FB...2 (Daryl Johnston, Don Perkins)
WR...6 (Michael Irvin, Drew Pearson, Bob Hayes, Tony Hill, Lance Rentzel, Butch Johnson)
TE...2 (Jay Novacek, Billy Joe DuPree)
OT...4 (Rayfield Wright, Erik Williams, Mark Tuinei, Flozell Adams)
OG...4 (Larry Allen, Nate Newton, Blaine Nye, John Niland)
C...2 (Mark Stepnoski, Dave Manders)
26 players assigned to Offense right now.
DEFENSE
DE...4 (Ed Jones, Harvey Martin, Charles Haley, George Andrie)
DT...3 (Bob Lilly, Randy White, Leon Lett)
MLB...2 (Lee Roy Jordan, Bob Breunig)
OLB...5 (Chuck Howley, DD Lewis, Thomas Henderson, Dexter Coakley, Ken Norton)
S...4 (Roy Williams, Cliff Harris, Charlie Waters, Darren Woodson)
CB...5 (Deion Sanders, Mel Renfro, Everson Walls, Kevin Smith, Cornell Green)
24 players assigned to Defense right now.
SPECIAL TEAMS
K...1 (Efren Herrera)
P...1 (Danny White)
LS...1 (Dale Hellestrae)
3 players assigned to Special Teams right now.
Head Coach... (Tom Landry)
Offensive Cordinator... (Jimmy Johnson)
Defensive Coordinator... (Bill Parcells)
Obviously Danny White's ability to play 2 positions opens a hole. I'd add Jethro Pugh at DT so we had 4.
I'd also consider going with only 5 WRs. Drop Butch Johnson and add Preston Pearson at RB for his 3rd down ability.
I'd reduce the OLBs to 4 and add Jason Witten as a 3rd TE.
Deion would be the PR, Herschel Walker the KR.
My seats would be on the Cowboys side line row 1, 50 yard line.
I probably missed someone really important. If you notice something glaringly wrong let me know.
I'd like your thoughts and comments. Something to kill the time.

With 8 on the current team, we should be kicking butt right now. :p
"The ball ain't heavy."
-Herschel Walker, when asked if he got tired carrying the ball 30 times per game.

No way Newman should be on that team. But, maybe Michael Downs.
I also think Doug Cosbie should be considered over DuPree, he took his job if I remember correctly.

Downs was a safety. No way he replaces any of those 4 there.

What about Dennis Thurman? Wasn't he a CB? Newman has to go.

Lee Roy Jordan was a MLB....I'd replace both your MLB's with Jordan and Breunig...
I might be inclined to take Duane Thomas over Walker...but for no reason.
I'd take Butch Johnson over Richards...actually, I'd take Rentzel over both Richards and Keyshawn and Butch Johnson...
I'd bump Hegamin for Ken Norton...
George Andrie was a DE...who should replace Tolbert...

I originally had Thomas over Walker. The KR duties changed. I will edit Andrie, I meant Blaine Nye.
We have been far more blessed at MLB than OLB but we have 5, that's why I put Lee Roy at OLB.

I'd take Dave Manders over Donaldson...

I will consider that change as well.
I thought about Herb Adderly as well, but his time here was so limited.
Same with Ditka.
Deion and Haley were too, but they were no brainers.
