PAVER: Update on Both Pavers...***Need ideas for Zone Paver***
Okay, here's where we are at.
The paver for the Zone has now been collected in full. I am going to cover the taxes and shipping as my contribution to it.
I need those who contributed to post some ideas of what the paver will say in this thread and we will vote. I personally liked the idea of using Michael Irvin's quote from his HOF speech combined with our site name and motto. If all are good with that, we will use it. This is very open so please offer input. Anyone is allowed to offer a suggestion for what it will say, but I will ask those who contributed to have actual say in what the paver says.
We have 4 lines, with 16 characters per line. That includes spaces and punctuation counting as a character.
So put your thinking caps on.
****************************************
The requests for the paver for Major Hagerty have all been sent out.
As of right now, 3 of the pledges have not been received. I will give that a day or so. If they do not come in I will cancel those PayPal requests and contact the 3 people who asked to donate but whom I have not sent requests to because we had enough money pledged so far.
We received pledges for about $15.00 over the $150.00 cost of the paver once PayPal removes all of its transaction fees. I will cover the balance of taxes and shipping for that paver as well. I also intend to send Major Hagerty's family a card on behalf of this entire forum thanking him for his selfless service.
Major Hagerty's friend is going to get the final say on what the paver says. I hope no one has an issue with that. Please feel free to make suggestions for this one too.
This paver will have 3 lines, with 16 characters per line. That includes spaces and punctuation counting as a character.
**************************************
I want to thank everyone for their contributions, advice, and willingness to do these things. I count myself the luckiest person on this forum to have the trust of this forum to do this. Every penny will go to where it belongs. I give you my word of honor. You people are the absolute best. All of you, and I thank you for the example you set.

I'll vote for that
NOT!
I officially vote for the Michael Irvin quote. I wish there were more spaces so we could credit him. However, the inscription as presented above is fine.

In Michael's HOF acceptance speech he said, and this may not be an exact quote, "so don't ever tell me it's just a game". That was just one phrase out of his speech.

I love it. Having to use "it is" threw me a little bit but I can see "it's" doesn't fit correctly. How about an exclamation point after game?
is just a game! --15
I think it gives it a little more emotion.

well, we already have ! in the 3rd line, so putting them back to back is weird. Unless, we switch the last two lines...
 WANTED. NEEDED. DESTINED.

I did not contribute because I bought one of my own for my family but here are some quotes by famous people and players I thought you might want to consider.
Lineman Nate Newton: "Remember this—there's the Cowboys,
and then there's the rest."
Coach Tom Landry: "Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan."
Coach Tom Landry: "Today, you have 100% of your life left."
Coach Tom Landry: "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable."
