Ok, I get and agree with your philosophy of drafting "*Smarts, instincts, leadership, work ethic, hustle, intensity & playmaking represented below_lazy, thuggish, selfish players (or mike mamulas) not included." but at the same time. There are those types of players who fit on our scheme and actually have more then a special teams role in the NFL.
I can see how it's easy to love a guy like Veikune and King and my problem is not so much with Veikune assuming he can handle the transition to LB in the NFL as it is King. We know he has the heart of bear and motor of an SS but that only gets you so far. His athletic skill set and frame just does not translate to a long successfull career in the NFL. I don't get the infactuation with the guy unless your looking to solidify your coverage units in the later rounds.
Really, that's the only problem I have, I love the rest of the draft

Hey fair enough! But I find it hard to believe that "those" guys are the only ones who fit in our scheme.
I agree that King is not a natural fit, but I really believe Wade can find a place for him. Bradie James was initially not a fit in Wade's scheme either if you recall. A guy w/Kings intensity, violent hands, motor, leadership & "bad intentions" on the field are sorely missing on our D. King is too short & too light to play DE, but is savvy, athletic & technically proficient enough to be used like Wade used Karl Mecklenberg (all over the front 7). Maybe all King has to do is lose weight (like James did) to play strongside OLB, or gain weight to play nickel NT. At the very least he would be great as a goal line MIKE. Like I said, King is a favorite (so I may have reached for him), but I really think this type of player is an integral add to this defense for it to get to the next level (championship caliber).
As for Veikune, he does not need me to champion his case, he embarassed blue chip consensus first rounder Michael Oher at the SR Bowl practices. He beat him around the edge, then killed him with an inside move on consecutive plays. Veikune easily outperformed Sidbury against the same competition (SR Bowl). Don't let the naysayers who have really no clue about this kid sway you, you don't even need to watch film (although that helps, and I'm not talking about pro days or combine drills), listen to what the scouts & analysts are saying about him.

LOL. 4 LB & 3 DL is not too your liking? Wade did say that this would be a defense heavy draft. But if the emphasis on the front 7 causes you too much consternation I can adjust it as such:
2 - Alex Mack, C, California 6'4 315 4.99 (trade up)
3 - Herman Johnson, OG, LSU 6'7 360 5.60
4 - Jason Williams, ILB, Western Illinois 6'1 241 4.46
David Veikune, OLB, Hawaii 6'3 257 4.79
5 - Sammie Lee Hill, NT/DE, Stillman 6'4 330 4.97
Zack Follett, ILB, California 6'2 238 4.69
Lardarius Webb, CB/S/KR, Nicholls State 5'10 185 4.35
6 - Johnny Knox, WR, Abilene Christian 6'0 180 4.29
Stryker Sulak, OLB, Missouri 6'4 251 4.63
7 - Nathan Brown, QB, Central Arkansas 6'1 220 4.78
Marcus Mailei, FB, Weber State 6'0 250 4.84

I love the Sammie Lee Hill pick. The rest is just Okay.
The toothbrush had to be invented in West Virginia, if it was created anywhere else it would have been called a teethbrush.

How about swapping the M King pick in the 4th for Fletcher, CB?
Well, they are both from Iowa.

I like this one better than your first but when would our 1st rd pick play? If you say he can play guard then why draft Herm Johnson with the next pick?
Church is in session

What's that saying "you can't have enough LBers in a 3-4"? You should have seen how many LBers I had BEFORE I made my edits. LOL.

Y'know, a coupla months ago Hill was my absolute favorite potential DT target for the Boys... but now, even though he hasn't done anything wrong, I'd rate him behind Chris Brown, Roy Miller and Dorell Scott (not in that order)...
The more I look at him, the more that "Stillman" after his name worries me... it's a loooooong way from Stillman to the NFL, he has never faced the talent he'll be facing on the next level, or anything close to it...
I love his workout numbers, I just don't know if his game will translate to the NFL... he could be this year's Walter Thomas, who a lot of us went nutso over just because he was a 300 pounder who was athletic enough to do a backflip...

15 of 'em might be a bit much when you've only got a 53 man roster...
