Good morning, Cbz and good morning, Zoners. ABQ, I hope you're enjoying the fishing.
As Juke took the day off, I'll offer a few tidbits:
1973 - Deep Purple's single "Smoke On The Water" was released.
1974 - In London, 1,000 people needed medical treatment and a 14 year old girl died when a crowd lost control at a David Cassidy concert.
1970 - The final episode of "I Dream of Jeannie" aired.
Birthdays - John Wayne 1907 ( Hos will be paying homage at his JW shrine)
Jay Silverheels 1919 - Friend of mine met him. Great sense of humor.
James Arness 1923
Levon Helm (The Band) 1942
Other historical events - 0017 - Germanicus of Rome celebrated his victory over the Germans. It doesn't say how he celebrated. Kegger? Simple reception by invitation-only? Bob, were you there?
1956 - The first trailer bank opened for business in Locust Grove, Long Island, NY. The 46-foot-long trailer took in $100,000 in deposits its first day.
(It was ticketed for parking violations on the second day)
1959 - The word "Frisbee" became a registered trademark of Wham-O. (Best corporate name -ever)
Have a good one, everybody.
The Truth will STILL not be the first casualty of war

Morning Cbz! And good morning to the rest of you folks. It remains hot and dry in Florida and my grass is suffering as it always does this time of year.

Morning Santiago, Zoniacs, early morning hooligans...
Phil, NIIiiiIiiIIIiiiIIICe job on your "this date in history" You put me to shame, I dunno but I'm thinking it should be your new job.
On this day in history..
1964 - Eleven boys were suspended at a Coventry, England, school for having a hair style like Mick Jagger.
1968 - After 48 years as coach of the Chicago Bears, George Halas retired.
1986 - Mel Fisher recovered a jar that contained 2,300 emeralds from the Spanish ship Atocha. The ship sank in the 17th century.
1998 - Charlie Sheen was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles for a drug overdose. (editors note: When asked why he was paying for women to come to his home for sex, Mr Sheen replied "I don't pay them for sex, I pay them to leave immediately afterwards")
