ABQ, here are a few pics from Hawaii. They aren't really very good, but a couple are interesting subjects.
The first one is the Pu'ukohola Heiau (Hawaiian temple) taken from above the structure. It's said the rocks for the heiau were passed from hand to hand from the Pololu Valley 25 miles away. There was a submerged "temple" in the harbor below to honor the sharks. My brother and I were wading in ankle deep water in the harbor at low tide. When the high tide came in the water started rising quickly and guess what, the sharks still return there every day. We saw a half dozen or more between 4 and 8 feet long swimming around before we got out of the water.

The second one (above) is me and a friend walking to the very tip top of Mauna Kea. It's over 13, 700 feet in elevation. A group of us had driven up to see the observatories and watch the spectacular sunset from the top and while we were waiting for sundown I decided I wanted to make it to the highest point on the mountain.
The next picture below is my daughter, granddaughter and I at the black sand beach at the bottom of the pali (cliff) down the hill from my house. Notice the Dallas Cowboys shorts

The last pic is Spencers Beach near the town of Kawaihae. The family went there for a picnic.

Morning Pops and a good Saturday morning to everyone.
Those are great pictures Leon - thanks for sharing those. Very pretty.
Gotta finish up raking leaves today as that is what we New Yorkers have to do this time of year.
You folks have a great day ahead!

Morning Cbz. Morning friends and fellow fans.
Yeags, the answer to your question is family. Flying from Hawaii to see my grandkids is too expensive to do more than once a year. Flying good old Southwest Airlines will get the family together much more often.

Good morning, Cbz and good morning, Zoners. Leon, love the pictures. I do understand the desire to see family, but the climate in Hawaii would be tough for me to leave. Sarge, my leaves are done and gone. Snow tire are on. I'm ready for the first big blast. Everybody have a great day.

GREAT pics Leon thanks I enjoyed the heck out of those..
sadly here in Europe I am not one of the wealthy that can afford a garden to rake leaves from ... but I do have castles and my house is next to "The Stone House" which they started building somewhere around 600 AD and finished about 600 years later...wars, the burning of the town and such put the construction team a little behind schedule....
I found a rock...but not just any rock the rock had carvings on it....it might be a fish or it might be a mountain with humps or something rather interesting...
Enjoy the weekend all.

Zax, I love old buildings. I'd be interested in pics of the stone house and the rock you found.

the stone house will be easy to do the rock is rather large for for a small fellow like me I will have to bring my camera there to take the picture...
the house with the red shutters is my hole in the wall...I live right above a bakery...
I live right behind the tower where the stone house is as you see there is a church that was built and burnt down a couple times it finally was finished in 1200 and something AD
a door from the stone house that is suppose to be a rose over the door the coat of arms of one of the nobles who had it built
another picture om my town the building right of the tower was a guard post over the moat and the big building is the court house
