Audio File Audio: Dorsett, Bates, Brandt, Green, Summerall talk Cowboys

Dorsett, Bates, Brandt talk Cowboys

By , September 7, 2009 6:44 pm

Yesterday on Sirius Radio the NFL channel was running a Dallas Cowboys 50th anniversary themed show as they announced the All-Time offensive and defensive rosters.

As they went along they were bringing in great guest after great guest.
So of course I started recording and if you into old school Cowboys stuff then you are in for a real treat.

We begin with Bill Bates...

Bill Bates talks Cowboys

Billy Bates was one of the best special teams players the game has ever seen. I would love to see a new 'Bill Bates' show up for the Cowboys at some point.

Here's Tony Dorsett talking Cowboys...

TD talks about his accomplishments

Growing up in Pennsylvania he had to be a Steelers fan. But it's all good because we know TD is a Dallas Cowboy in his heart and soul.

We move to Cornell Green...

Green talks about the early days

Always love hearing from the old school defensive backs who say you had to get up on a big WR and fight with him at the line of scrimmage. That's the type of players I want on my team.

Pat Summerall and John Madden did so many Cowboys games back in the day it seemed like they were the official announcing team for the team...

Summerall talks Cowboys

Back in the 80's and 90's when I was growing up you got goose bumps when 4pm came around and Summerall and Madden came on screen to announce the Cowboys-Giants/Skins/Eagles games on CBS. Those were the days!

And we finish this off with some radio gold from Gil Brandt...

Gil Brandt - Part One -- Gil Brandt - Part Two

Wow. Gil Brandt has stories for days. Someone needs to sit with Brandt over a good period of time and record all of these stories and put them into a huge book. That thing would be like 1,000 or so pages, but it would be one hell of a read.
