I was looking at 1080p and 600 hrz models.
I was also told by the salesman Plasma TV's are a tad darker to the LCD'S

There are several threads in the off topic zone concerning this topic. One as recently as last week.
....but I will say that you can't go wrong with a 50" Samsung plasma. I love mine.

Good choice. For 50" tvs, there's no question. Plasmas are better and cheaper.

I have plasma and lcd...
Both have their pros and cons...
As far as viewing, I HIGHLY recommend getting a screen with a matte finish regardless of the format...

There is no excuse to buy either. Both are vestigial technologies.
But an LED set. Neither can touch it. LED is the future, in display and all forms of lighting. In 30 years, nearly all lighting will be LED based.

No excuse?
How about price?
I find funny the attitude many "audiofile" types take when it comes to new technology (not singling you out). Personally, I'll take last year's technology at half the price and save 2 grand....that oh so special feeling that the latest tech people get only lasts a few months...I hope its worth the money.
