Audio File Audio: Irvin on what Brooking does for Defense

Irvin talks Keith Brooking
-----------------

This guy has been nothing but a blessing for this defense.

And Kevin Kiley was talking to some Cowboy coach and has a nugget on the Zach Thomas situation from last season.

Good stuff.

Care to lay the nugget without me having to listen?
Sig removed! Our team did!

The coach told him Zach wanted to do it, but he just couldn't anymore.

They loved him, but he was finished.

I hope Brooking can give us two more years before he ends up like Thomas. I loved the Thomas signing....but it was obvious he just didn't have the motor anymore.

Good stuff.

I was down on the Brooking signing at the time because I was having flashbacks to Zach Thomas, but man this guy has been a real find.

If Brooking is still around in two years, I will be ecstatic!!

Plus I predict an NFC Championship game appearance at least.

If Zach was done, why didn't we start Burnett then
Best Oline for Cowboys:

LT: Free LG: Mankins C: Gurode RG: Holland RT:Young (or an early draft pick)

Hatcher = better overall player than Spears (equal run stopping; better pass rushing)

Thomas may have lost it....but Burnett never had it.

Burnett got hurt quite a bit here and he's really not doing much in SD either. He got hurt over there too and didn't play in the Giants game.

Thinking back about Zach Thomas I remember watching Hard Knocks last year and they had a short segment on him and how he had a personal masseuse that would stretch him out everyday. When I first saw that I was thinking he was one of those guys that took care of his body pretty well but looking back on it you could take it as a red flag that maybe Thomas was done. I loved the idea of bringing Thomas in here but he never rose to the occasion like Brooking did and I think alot had to do with the "locker room distractions" the Cowboys endured last year.

Let's just get this out of the way, compared to last year this team has so much more commraderie towards one another you see it all the time on the sidelines. I think we have to realize that T.O. probably didn't intend to create tension within the locker room but he sure threw alot of people under the bus and that was percieved as "T.O. being Team Obliterator" and then the media just took it to the next level.

I kind of think Zack knew he was done

that's why he wasn't making much of a show of him being here, and kind of deferred to everyone else
