What does height have to do with it? Taller people have generally longer arms which makes lifting more difficult as there is a larger range of motion.

A better point would have been "Not bad for a 172 lb guy".
He benched more than his weight 20 times. Pretty impressive.

i would hope he could do that much at that weight. i did 225, 7 times@ 145 in highschool. so 225 20 times@ 172 after a 4 year college weight program should be pretty standard.
It is not the waitress's fault!

Look up the reps NFL DB's do. (Almost all CB's are bigger then him, yet most do less reps)
He weighs less then almost every WR this year, yet benched more then everyone (tied with Benn and Jones for the most)

true but he was a running back in college, upper body is more important to an RB than DB and WR which is why i would expect 20 reps. 20 reps is about the minimum for RB. i think 18 is what is expected from DB/WR. not saying it isnt impressive for his size but still nothing i wouldnt expect. short arms help too lol.

It sounds like you are seriously butthurt. You weren't nearly as strong as mccluster in high school, sorry brah. PS. from accounts of players training with mccluster, he's a beast in the gym, so i'm not sure where this "upper body" is more important bs came from

not at all. and if you don't know that upper body is more important for an RB than a WR/DB then i cant help you. i also don't know what players saying about his workouts has anything at all to do with anything i or anyone else has said?
i also never said i was close to his strength in high school i just pointed out that after 4 years of a college strength program that though his reps were impressive for his size they were not eye popping, rather what i would hope and expect from him based on my similar stature and age( I'm 5' 10" 165 and 22 btw)
but i do appreciate your attempt to belittle me.BRAH.

Because they're on a complete strength program, like running backs concentrate on upper body. Legs are just as important for a RB because he's getting hit by 6'4 250 linebackers that run 4.7's and he has to keep his footing. McCluster is probably pound for the pound the strongest person in the draft. 20 reps of 225 is a max of around 350+ which is unbelievable for a dude that's 5'8 170.
And yes, when you say "short arms help" and "i'd hope he could do that much after 4 years in college, it's standard" is ridiculous. Iupati at 6'6 and nearly 150lbs more than Dex got 27 reps. If you can show me a natty athlete that's stronger than Dex at 170 lbs i'll give you complete props.

you might want to read and think before you post. show me where i said that legs aren't important? or even as important? you wont find it. what i said was(for the third time) upper body is more important for a RB THAN IT IS FOR a WR/DB, because that is what i responded to(a comment about WR/DB reps).
he is def pound for pound one of the strongest( though the guard that did 45 reps @310 is prolly pretty close) I'm not taking anything away from him but it is what i would expect(i did not say it was standard as you quoted me as saying BTW) after 4 years in a D1 strength program.
i have a gymnast friend back home that puts up 350 @155. my work out buddy puts up 445 @185. and just for ****s and giggles i decided to see how many reps of 225 i could put up, i got 15 which is about right cause i know my max is around 315, I'm @165 and we are all natural and its something we pride ourselves on.i workout to stay in shape, not get bigger, stronger, faster like these guys do in college so yeah i would expect to be around what d mac does if i played D1 football.
and yes short arms do help, it is a physiological advantage for that test and it can not be disputed.

Love the guy - not sure where he could fit in on this team unless we make a cut somewhere else, but he's a winner.

I'll second everything this gentleman just said.
Well put.
Back to McCluster though... I'm not one to say that I was always in support of someone or something when I wasn't, and I definitely wasn't a fan of McCluster's. My main concern was his size/strength/durability, but the 20 reps he put up indicates that he's fairly serious in the gym and goes a long way towards allaying my concerns...
I'm starting to think he's a guy worth taking a chance on.

thank you sir. ive watched some ole miss games over the past couple of years(cause of oher) and he has impressed me, he is a playmaker and i would love him in the second if he is the best guy on the board. considering half of the top defenders coming out this year are from the sec i think that goes along way in speaking about his ability.
