Default Who Will Challenge the Pats in '05?

They are losing Weis and there will be other changes, but getting Dillon gave the Pats a solid RB and a balanced offense. Combined with a stout defense and excellent ST and coaching, and everyone surely must favor the Pats to win it again next year. Unless they lose to the Eagles, which ain't gonna happen...
So, who can stop them from getting to the big game next year? That would have to cement them as the greatest dynasty of the modern era, given that no NFC team would be able to beat them. Will it be the Colts - finally somehow? Will the Steelers keep it together? Will the Chargers rise to the top? I personally believe it will be the steelers and carolina next year, but somebody has to slow down these Patriots. We'll see if belichick can win without weis...
Maybe i'm paranoid but i can envision the patriots winning the next five super bowls if somebody doesn't step up to bat...

If Indy can somehow get homefield advantage they'll have a good shot.

The Eagles are in great cap shape so you know they'll be back. And ATL is a WR a way as well.

The Pats are also losing Romeo Crennel. Losing both the offensive and defensive coordinators in one year will seriously hurt this team.

Not to sound sarcastic - 31 other teams will challenge them, thats why they play the games.

This is the beggining of the end for the Pats, yes they will make the playoffs next year, but they wont be back in the superbowl, Age , FA, and coaches bolting, I see a 10-6 11-5 team.

Default My thoughts..

The Vikes have almost 30 mill in cap room. They could get some serious defensive help with a Moss trade and getting players or picks. They can be a team to watch out for, again.

Eagles, obviously. Those bastards.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that I think the Jets will win the AFC East next year.

I'm also going to say that if the Ravens pick up a big WR, they could be in serious contention against Pittsburgh. Moss? Porter? Burress? I don't know if Plax would really end up in Baltimore..

In the South, I like the Colts.

West, Chargers again, and I expect the Chiefs to "be back".

I think the Bucs/Panthers/Falcons will be a great race. Panthers need to see what's up with Muhammed, and hopefully Davis recovers fully.

And I'm gonna go ahead and say that the West well.. I have no idea. If Seattle lets go of Hasselback, I'd have to go with Rams.

But let's not forget guys, we have about 17 mill in room and 3 top 45 picks. We can make some moves.

Buffalo seems to be the team in the AFC East who is showing the most improvement and think they will be able to challenge along with the Jets for the division title.

Everyone will. Losing Weiss and Crennell is going to hurt more than people realize.

Agreed. Everyone believes that BB is the brain trust that has created this Pats team. He's had help both on the field and off. I think when Crennel and Weiss leave, we'll see how much of this was BB, and how much was the three of them together.

Players are playing for less to play or stay in NE. Until someone beats NE, they are the best.

Can they be beat? Absolutely.

Who will challenge? Most likely the same cast of teams that did this year.

I predicted before one game was played this year that it would come down to NE/Philly.

It would not surprise me one bit if next year is a repeat of these same two teams.

I agree however with what someone else said - give Indy the home field advantage and anythings possible. They've got issues though, on defense, and on the road.

There is no formula for success except an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings.

I think the Eagles could if they build on the success they had this season or they could pull a Parcells and go 6-10 because they let certain starters go and didn't adequately replace them. Sheldon Brown and Lito Shephard are not exactly Pete Hunters so don't even go there. I know you guys.
