Jean Jacques Taylor DMN JJT: Cowboys CB tandem poised to be among NFL's best

Secondary coach Dave Campo said Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman has never had a better training camp than he's having this summer.

Newman is finally meshing perfect technique with his array of individual skills and the results have been superb. His interception against San Diego was a perfect example of that.

The Cowboys were playing zone coverage, and Newman turned his shoulders and took a false step, as though he were going to cover the receiver running the post. When Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers saw that, he threw an out route because it appeared his receiver was open – just as Newman wanted him too.

Hey JJT - stop writing positive articles about the Cowboys. The reverse psychology won't work; the board will always loathe you.

Trent Dilfer: "Tony [Romo] has greatness in him. I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”

I predict 6 interceptions for Newman this season, 5 in back to back seasons for Jenkins.

If our individual elements can all take a step forward... this team will be epic
In the final two months of 2011, Romo’s passer rating was 115.9.

Sounds just about right. I really think Jenks will have at least six, though.

Seems like Newman is back to having the same impact he did in seasons past. I wonder if Jenkins great year is what is motivating him.

I'm stoked. I hope Newman or Jenkins intercepts at least one pass against McNabb in the first game. That would be awesome. A pick six would be even better.

DESTINATION... END ZONE!!!

How can that be? TNew isn't anything more than a jag any more right?

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I didn't know Newman was slack with his technique before. He should elevate his game this year.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

Was it technique that made him pass right before the pick on that drive? The one where he had his back to the QB ?
