Default Average age

These are last year's figures from Insiders.com - grateful if someone could update - but AJM keeps chirping about how young his team supposedly is. Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles averaged 26.3 years of age and four years of experience, had 14 players with a year or less of NFL experience, and seven players over the age of 30.

NFL averages were 26.5, 4.3, 10.6 and 10.3, respectively.

The Cowboys of 2003 averaged 25.8 years old (second-youngest in the NFL), 3.7 years of experience (tied for second-least experienced), had 13 rookies or one-years vets (fifth most), and had six players at least 30 years old (tied for second-least.

Now, perhaps AJM saw all the first- and second-year players on his team and was fooled into thinking he had a young team, but from a cursory perusal of the offseason moves made by these two teams, it seems the Cowboys got slightly younger (adding Henson, replacing Ek with Wiley, letting Mario go, replacing Joey with Key), whereas the Eagles (Kearse, Owen) are pretty much standing still, if not getting slightly older.

Of coure, the Eagles picked up some extra picks for 2005, which will stand them in good stead, but if I had to make a bet, I'd have to say - objectively - that Dallas is better set for the future.

During "Hard Knocks", at Campo's house, Jerry got up to speak to the players and coaches and said that youth was an excuse in the past and that that year, they would turn it into an advantage......it didn't work too well under the Crapo/Craplet regime.

Under BP though, he can actually scare these guys into playing better, if you will. Big advantage of our coaching change.
Jimz31 has spoken....you may now close the thread.

Good point, it will get blown to hell if we sign 84 year old Vinny T, though!
