When Oregon State cornerback Brandon Browner walked into the interview room, he opened a lot of eyes. "He's a corner?" a writer asked. The question was prompted by his size. Browner measured out at 6-feet-3¾ and weighed 221 pounds. Browner then said he was the best corner in the draft. "The other guys don't have what I have," he said. They certainly don't have the size. But the key for Browner will be his 40 time. He said he has run under 4.5 in the past. If he does that, he's going to vault high into the first round. One thing that he will have to adjust in the NFL is his physical play. He mugged receivers in the Pac-10. Browner said that can be fixed with some technique work. We love this kid as a player. So will the team that gets him.

If he doesn't show the quickness or change of direction required for a corner, he's destined for safety. Running a good 40 time is fine, but if he can't test well in the cone drill then coaches will get a little nervous. When a player like Marvin Harrison puts a move on you, are you going to get left behind? You can't mug the small guys downfield anymore.

the natural inclination is that this guy could easily move to FS and be a great FS if his time is slow for a CB. However, Marlin Jackson played a year of FS at Mich after establishing himself as one of the top CBs in the collegiate game, his year at FS was less than stellar and he was moved back to CB for his Sr season. The positions are very different and the FS position is more of a thinking man's position. Maybe Browner could make the switch, but all I'm saying is that its not guaranteed even though it sounds easy.

I think he should have stayed another year and he probably would have been a top ten pick. Right now he's probably a high second round. He has speed but is supposedly stiff with need for technique work.

He also has worked as a WR.

I think right now I'd take Justin Miller in the second if I were to take a CB in the second due to his speed, play making ability and oh yeah, speed. He's a player.

There's a big write-up by Lenny P on ESPN which states that the "prototype" for CB's have changed since the rule changes. Teams no longer want the big 6"1" guy to grapple with WR's. They want quick, fast guys who can skirt around WR's and break up passes without drawing penalties. That's the reason why many people have Antrell Rolle slipping.

Sounds to me like Lenny Walls on the Broncos. I havent heard of him before today, sounds like hes got incredible size for a CB though

Browner ran a 4.69 today. Looks like he erased any doubt that he is really a S in the NFL.

From watching a few of the combine workouts on NFL network he definitely looks like more of a safety. He was high in his backpedal and didn't seem to have a quick hips or a great burst compared to some of the others.

Marlin Jackson looked very impressive athletically, although I would of like to see a little better break out of his backpedal. He appears to be able to adjust to the ball in the air very well and make a play on it. If he can tackle well, he may be a very good FS in the NFL.

That's the knock on the kid. He's young, inexperienced and just not quick or fluid enough right now. He should have stayed another year but who knows. I think he's generally considered faster than 4.69 but he's not blazing either. Right now I would project him as a project safety maybe we could turn him into a CB. We just can't afford to take on projects IMO.

Sure if he's in the 2nd, or there is just NO ONE at pick 20 we want. then yea okay.

Otherwise if Williams,DJ AND Merriman are gone, we take Thomas Davis from UGA with pick 11, or Shazor from Michigan with the 2nd round.
