Cowboys Announce New Ticket Prices For 2005 Season

IRVING, Texas - The Cowboys have always been one of the hottest tickets in town, but there will be some changes for the upcoming 2005 season.

The Cowboys announced new ticket prices at Texas Stadium this season, including an increase in all seven price ranges, including the end zone seats, which have gone up for the first time since 1999. The lower-level end zone move from $37 to $49, while the upper-level end zone seats will increase from $36 to $48.

The remaining seats in the lower bowl will be available for prices ranging from $80 to $93. Upper level corners and upper level sideline seats (excluding seats in the first 10 upper level rows) are priced $62 and $73.

The Cowboys generally raise tickets prices every two seasons, the last hike coming before the 2003 season. However, compared to the rest of the NFL, the Cowboys were closer to the middle, in terms of ticket prices.

Prior to the start of the 2004 season, New England led the league with an average ticket price of $75.33, with Washington ($68.12), Kansas City ($67.26), the NY Giants ($66.67) and the NY Jets ($66.39) rounding out the top five. Last year, the Cowboys' average ticket price was around only $53.00, but has jumped to an average of $66.21 this year. Expect nearly the rest of the teams in the NFL to raise their ticket prices as well for the upcoming 2005 season.

Of course, while ticket prices will increase next year, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has already proved this season he's willing to dish out some cash as well.

On the second day of free agency, Jones and the Cowboys shelled out $28 million in signing bonuses to land free agents Anthony Henry ($10 million) and Marco Rivera ($9 million) and Jason Ferguson ($9 million). The Cowboys will be looking to extend their franchise-record sellout streak, which currently stands at 120 consecutive games at Texas Stadium, dating back to 1990 in a Dec. 16 against Phoenix.

damn, average price up 25%, that's a pretty big hike. Glad (kind of) I live in KC and that I'm only going to have to pay for one game this year.
