Default OT: A Question For The members

I just read where Rickey Williams has stopped smoking pot.

So he may be headed in the right direction to resolve the issue of his signing bonus.

But, what if...

He shows up for practice claiming his head is on straight.

Then at the first break for water, Rickey pulls out a joint and fires it up.

He gets suspended.

Then he is back with the team and he lights up on the sidelines of a game, during a moment when the national telecast is showing him after a touchdown.

He is suspended again. maybe for life.

Would Rickey Williams then have to pay back the bonus?

I know this is OT but would like an opinion or two.
You've been weighed

You've been measured

And you've been found to be a casual fan

The Dolphins would be crazy to take him back. He's a tremendous talent but has no heart for the game and can't be trusted.

I agree with the other responders, but to answer your question; I believe that any team taking a chance on him would write a clause into his contract that would require him to return any remaining portion of a prorated signing bonus if he and any further drug problems.

The Dolphins would not take him back even if they wanted to because the fans will never forgive Ricky for what he did. If he comes back, he will be traded.

If he comes back and tries to purposely get out of his contract, the best he could hope for would be to shave one year of pro-rated bonus off the portion of the signing bonus he received. That would be a lot of effort to go through in order to save only a fraction of the money he owes.

He would have to go through a training camp and earn his way back into a starting position. I wouldn't be surprised that even if he came back he would be inactive the first few games he returned just as a test to see that he is really back and to let him get back into game shape.

Personally, I hope that when he comes back, the league slaps a one-year suspension on him for his third drug violation and doesn't credit last year with being that suspended year since he never played a down nor was he active.

But, what if the joint just jumped in his mouth, and he actually did not put it there?

Would it matter if during the game there was a Bob Marley tribute and everyone else was puffing?

What if it is some REALLLLY good stuff, he gets emotional after puffing the magic dragon, starts crying, and walks off and quits after scoring the TD, and never to be seen again except on a new BANG Cartoon?

If he asks to be reinstated then would the Dolphins be required to take him back even if to cut him or in his case wait for him to self destruct?

I know they don't want him but would they be obligated to?
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

If drinking alcohol is legal, smoking pot should be legal. How's that for an opinion?
You can't spell bias without BS.

Normally that probably would not happen.

BUT

If you had just ate some of CBZ's pea salad I would say the odds would seriously increase!

If Ricky Williams wanted to come back, the Dolphins would have three choices: 1) accept him back 2) trade him (most likely to happen) or 3) release him. At this point, the best thing that could happen to the Dolphins would be him to stay retired and have him repay the $8.6 million (or however much it was) potion of his signing bonus.
