Default Why so much interest in Courtney Brown?

That scrub isn't worth it in my opinion. Your thoughts?

Just like Jerry Jones picking up re-threads and former 1st round busts (Ryan Leaf, Quentin Coryatt, etc, etc) ... teams are hoping guys like Brown will live up to their original hype if given new surroundings.

It usually doesn't work.

But then again, if Brown was available for cheap, I'm sure we'd be very interested also.

I don't know what you mean by interest. Seems that the redskins and the browns are the only ones seriously interested and I haven't noticed any posters pining for him. I think there is always the possibillity that a change of scenery will be good for him. It wasn't a good situation in Cleveland for any player much like the Cardinals have been in pre-Green years. The guy has talent he just never stayed healthy. Similar to Ekuban in some ways and he actually played well for that Cleveland team last season.

There will always be coaches out there who feel they can get more out of a player than his previous team was able to get. In fairness to Brown, a change of teams and a change of cast members around him could make a big difference in his career.

The idea that if he can stay healthy he could be a force....especially with Greg Williams.

I do not think Brown has been a bust due to how he plays, IMO it is the idea that he rarely plays due to injury.

Well Redskins fans over at ES.com were pretty hopeful to land him. He had visited Denver last week as well, and is reported to have a visit scheduled with Jacksonville in the coming days.

Brown Getting Pressure from Broncos Mon Mar 21, 2005

ESPN's John Clayton reports former Browns DE Courtney Brown is planning a visit to Jacksonville on Monday, but he is still leaning toward taking a deal with either Denver or Washington. Broncos CB Champ Bailey, a former Redskin, called Brown in the past couple days and tried to recruit him away from the Redskins and to the Broncos. Brown is considered the best defensive end on the open market despite his history of injuries in Cleveland. By the way, the Broncos aren't completely switching to a 3-4. Their plan is to be a base 4-3 and occasionally move into the 3-4 in situations. The team doesn't have the personnel to make a full move into the 3-4. Signing Brown would be a key to the base 4-3 defense.
